Has anyone else had the runs when they where 2 week post op when I eat not long after well you know lol. I am not eating anything different either on puree now but stll drink my protein shakes and eat a low fat cheese stick that has no sugar in it. I am wondering if the sugarfree free stuff is doing it.

a good amount of people become lactose intolerant after surgery. thank god i didn't! i get a good amount of my protein from dairy.

but for a few months after surgery i had this problem, still do once in awhile. like maybe one or two days a month i'll be in and out of the bathroom all day. can't find any rhyme or reason for it, especially since i eat pretty much the same things every day, just in different forms.

I'm 2 and a half weeks post op and occasionally have that problem.  I'm also on pureed and I notice it the worst if I've drank any type of juice or alot of dairy.

I had diarrhea off and on for the first couple of months but I also became sensitive to lactose for a year or two after surgery (I had no problems w/ lactose prior to surgery).  I found I had to either avoid milk or take Lactaid when I drank it.  I was, however, fine with cheese and yogurts.

I did.  It was my body coming off of the pain medications which are constipating.  After a few days it slowed down.  I got some Tucks pads and just rode it out.  I stayed pretty close to a bathroom.  Keep your fluids up and give it a few days.  If it doesn't clear up and or it ends up bloody give the surgeon a call.

I was told not to drink any undiluted fruit juices, as they have too much sugar.  Crystal Light and I are friends now.  I was also told not to abuse products that even though are touted to be "no sugar added".  Usually this means that sure, no sugar was added but sugar alcohols were such as maltitol, or xylitol.  These will give you bad gas, cramping, diarrhea etc.

I actually experienced this a few months ago, before I had surgery by trying a cake that had a ton of sugar alcohol in it, even though it was "no sugar added".  I regretted every minute of it.  I spent most of the following day crouched over in bad abdominal pain, diarrhea, sense of wanting to die, etc.  It was horrible.

I am 1 1/2 yrs out and became lactose intolerent a couple weeks after surgery too.  It sounds like this is what it is.  I had either very runny or more diahriaish for the 1st year.  I loved milk prior to surgery but avoid it like crazy now.  Good thing because I only have 1 spoon of ice cream now instead of a bowl.  I have had NO problems with cheese though and eat it pretty much every single day.  I am addicted to string cheese.

Could be from the antibotic that they gave you for the UTI.
