If I understand it correctly, it's drinking a lot of liquid 15 minutes or so before a meal and then you're supposed to get full on less food.  But how does that work for us since liquids don't stay in the pouch?

Good question.  I don't think I've ever heard of this.

It goes through the pouch and fills up the intestine.  I have heard of doctors recommending that over the years.  Tri

I would think that this would only work on people who have not had surgery, but maybe I am wrong.

Since we don't have the valve, i can't see how water loading work with us anyways.

My surgeon reccomends water loading if you start to get to get hungry too soon between meals.   You drink a lot of water is a short time period and it's supposed to get rid of the hunger feeling but i'm not post op yet so i don't know how well it works on post ops.

How does he explain it working when we have no pyloric valve?

The only way I could see that it may have some effect is that your intestines contract at a set rythem so while yes we don't have a pyloric valve I guess the theory would be that the rythem of our intestines would cause some back-up.  I'd still rather eat a healthy well balanced meal than drink a ton of water and then eat an unbalanced meal.  If you are eating a well balanced meal what would be the need to do this?

I eat a decent meal, with a good amount of protein, but I have been getting hungry sooner lately than I used to.  Something like six ounces of Greek yogurt with half a banana sliced on it used to keep me feeling full for three hours.  Now, I'm getting hungry closer to two hours after a meal.  I'm looking for ways to feel full longer, or else eat less per meal so I can eat more often.

I honestly wouldn't and don't know how it would work but i'm willing to do whatever my surgeon says to ensure that this surgery is a success including making the necessary lifestyle changes to make sure i don't regain any weight lost.   Different doctors do different things and whatever mine chooses for me well thats what i'll do.
