biotene gel for dry mouth

I've been having a terrible time with dry mouth lately as a side effect of one of my antidepressants and tonight I went to the store in search of a product called Biotene spray.  Well, they did not have the spray, but had a gel.  So I bought it.

And it helps.  A lot.  It's in a tube and looks kinda like clear toothpaste.  It feels really weird in my mouth and I don't like it at first.  But you put a little on your tongue and then kind of smoo**** around throughout your mouth.  And then I do not feel thirsty for a good while.  As opposed to having cotton mouth every five minutes.

I am thinking for those just getting ready to have surgery, if you will not be allowed fluids for a while after surgery, this could really help a lot.

You can print out a $1 off coupon from their website.  At least, you could a couple days ago, probably still can.

I like their toothpaste and mouthwash. I have oral lichen planus and I can't use regular toothpaste.

Some one recommended a similar product called Oasis and it is similar to Biotine, actually it "tastes" a little bit better.  Thanks for reminding me, I almost forgot it for this coming surgery AND it has a peppermint taste so it helps with nausea.

Kelly, I was able to get the Biotene Spray on Amazon... I believe I got a set of two bottles and the price was reasonable.  I find it's really helpful...

Thanks, I'll look there.  I figured I would have to get it online.  I've looked at two stores here and both had the toothpaste and one had the gel, but no spray.

I am a dentist and I recommend Biotene frequently....mouthrinse, gum, toothpaste, etc.
People with dry mouth (whatever the cause) are at a greatly increased risk of tooth decay.
I see it all the time in post gastric bypass patients and more frequently in Lap Band patients.
Just as an aside, if you vomit frequently, don't brush your teeth right away. Just rinse with water or rinse with baking soda in water.
