Donating Blood

I like to donate, especially this time of year. I am not quite 3 months postop - any issues with that? I don't recall what, if any, questions they ask regarding recent surgeries, etc.

Hope your day is great!

My surgeon told me to wait 12months, because you wont know how serious the malabsorption of iron will be until at least a year out.

I gave blood for the first time ever this year at about 9 months out.  The snacks/drinks that they provided afterwards were not very rny surgery friendly (junk carbs/high sugar stuff), but I'm sure you can find a way around that.

I hadn't thought of what Danni mentioned.

I haven't tried to donate as I hae to work really hard to keep my Hgb above 11.  I had to have an ablation to stop my periods and still needed iron infusions.

I would think giving only once would set you up for fighting anemia forever.
