Pre-op question - can we take nyquil??

I'm 4 days away from my surgery and was told that I can only taken Tylenol for 10 days before surgery.  I'm starting to get a sore throat and don't want to risk being sick for my surgery, though, and Nyquil usually helps me knock out a cold.

I was looking at the ingredients and Nyquil has Acetamenaphin (sp?) in it, which is the same thing Tylenol has.

Does this mean it's ok for me to take Nyquil?  I know the reasoning is that they don't want anything that will thin the blood before surgery, so I don't want to risk it if it's not ok.

Anyone know if Nyquil is ok?

Thanks in advance!

I would call your doctor's office and ask.  I would not do anything to hinder my surgery date.  I was totally afraid of getting sick before surgery too!

I am 7 months out and last week had the flu like no one's business and took lots of Nyquil and it was fine, but I am not pre op.  The medicine you have in your body can react with the stuff they will use during surgery so please ask before you take anything.

Good luck!  Hope you feel better soon and are able to have your surgery!

Thanks!  I just called the surgeon's office and she said Nyquil was fine.

I guess I should have called them to begin with, but it's sometimes hard to reach anyone!  I just got lucky this time!
