Gosh, you can't win.  If you are overweight you often feel negative vibes from insensitive jerks and when you go to the length of getting help from highly trained and educated professionals, you are a slacker.  The key is to educate those around you about how obesity is affecting you and your family.

I kept my surgery a secret and only a hand full of people know. I don't need people to judge me for using the best weightloss tool I have ever found. It definately is not easy and I don't miss the old me at all. I am going to healthy and happy and thats not anyones business its my journey.

I started dating a guy a few months before my surgery date. I wasn't really public about my surgery coming up, but I did let it slide into a conversation we were having. His reaction was 'Ugh I hate it when people get weight loss surgery you can do it on your own" to which I replied "Sorry you feel that way I'm still gonna have it done"

He hassled me about it for a while to which I finally just said "If you and I ever get married or become serious you can have more input in my future surgical decisions, for now I'm gonna do what I am gonna do."

After that we no longer had any issues about it and he has actually been pretty supportive. We are still dating.

Sometimes you just gotta lay down the law.
