My latest "HFO"
I want to try Quinoa, but I have no idea how to cook it. Patiently waiting on Nik to school me
My HFO is tomatoes. I can't get enough of them. After I get my protein in you can bet that my veg/fruit of choice is a red juicy vine ripe tomato. I am paying about $3 a pound for hothouse ones this time of year, but they are well worth it to me. They have lots of anti-oxidants and full of vitamins. They also have Lycopene, which is a proven cancer fighter.

I also really like quinoa. I usually use it instead of rice or noodles when we have what we call "five hour stew". This is just stew meat (I cut it up smaller than how it comes), 2 cans of cream of mushroom, 2 cans of cream of celery and 2 cans of cream of chicken, 1 packet of onion soup mix and 2 cans of water... put in the oven at like 300 for 5 hours in a dutch oven. Not a crock pot.. would be too runny. The kids eat it over egg noodles, I eat mine with quinoa. Yummy! I also use the 98% fat free soups and they all love it still.
I think its former fat dudes has a recipe for what he calls quotemeal.. quinoa and oatmeal mixed together.. very good.. but after I ate it a couple days in a row I decided the gas factor wasn't worth it.
