...or "healthy food obsession."

QUINOA!

Who eats it? Who's seen it in the grocery store and wasn't sure what it is?

Here's a great article to learn about this grain, which is high in protein and a COMPLETE protein (all nine amino acids in there).

I wasn't sure how to properly cook it until recently but now I am in LOVE!!! I've been sharing on the eating thread my stew I've been eating. It's based on this Bariatric Foodie recipe:

To which I added 1/2 c. of quinoa after the fish was cooked. Yummy and filling and nutritious and delicious! Score!

Do you have an "HFO"? What is it and how do you use it? And if you have other good ideas for quinoa, offer them up!

Yes indeed! My favorite way to cook it is just in some low sodium chicken broth with minced garlic. My kids like it too.

one of my lazy recipes is rotisserie chicken chopped up after you cook the quinoa in broth and rotel tomatoes and black beans. mix the chicken in at the end. quick and yummy!

You rock. I'm all about new things, and willing to try anything, but this is a bit exotic for me so I want to do it 'right', espeically when introducing it to the hubby. lol

LOVE the stuff.

I have made it in a brocolli and cheese type of casserole that I would have used rice for.  YUMMY.
I mix it with salsa when I make my salsa chicken.

My kids not so sure of it.  But they come and go with foods some times.

Yep, I love it.  The rest of the family not so much.  It's also great for breakfast.  I sprinkle some Cinnamon in it.

My son loves my old chicken and rice casserole. I don't like eating rice, so I want to sub quinoa. No idea if it'll work, but I wanna try anyway...lol.
