Quiz of the Day - Vitamin B6

How much B6 do we need each day (according to the ASMBS)?

Name some foods high in vitamin B6 (keep in mind, though, that we won’t absorb all the nutrients in our food so just eating a lot of these foods is not likely to meet our needs for vitamin B6).

How much vitamin B6 is in your multivitamin?

What are some common symptoms of vitamin B6 deficiency?

What was your vitamin B6 level last time you had labs done?  (If you don’t know, call your doc for a copy of your lab report to find out.  And if you haven’t had it tested, add it to the list of labs to request next time you get labs done!)

And, this doesn't have anything to do with B6, but if anyone has ideas of topics for future quizzes, just let me know.

Looking up the answers isn't cheating here.  What's important is that you know where to get the answers.  You don't have to memorize them all.  Geez, as much as I like learning about vitamins, I had to look up what were good sources of B6 because I get a lot of the B vitamins mixed up, except for B12 which somehow doesn't seem like a B vitamin to me.

I'm gonna ask you to explain those symptoms of deficiency, though.  What do all those long words I can't pronounce mean?

I must say that I love the fact that you are putting these quizzes up. What a great way to educate and encourage pre ops and newbies, even some of older ones.

Even those of us who don't post our answers still think about it and even do research sometimes to find the answers.

Met my first goal, met my second goal, met my surgeons goal. Now I have a new goal!
