Your PCP can prbably draw some labs and tell you if your hormones are out of wack...if the pain is too bad an ob/gyn can do a (D&C where they go in and burn the lining of the uterus), that may cause you to never have another cycle again.

I'm not in any pain now.  I had very bad cramps for four days but that was about a week ago now.  I feel OK now, I'm just tired of bleeding.

I think you are smart to see your PCP and have some testing.  They can test you FSH follicle stimulating hormone to get an idea if you are perimenopausal and I think it is possible since you are still having a period 2wks later that it could be possible to have uterine fibroids.   With those a hysterectomy isn't always necessary, uterine ablation is also an option.  My friend had issues with period length and her dr. inserted an IUD for her.  No personal experience with that, so nothing to add.  Hopefully, it's just part of the winding down of your fertility, assuming you aren't hoping to have kids at this point.
