Frustrated

I just found out that I most likely have to have hernia surgery. I was hoping to save my vacation time for WLS and now I have to use it for the hernia surgery instead. Now I have to put off my WLS even longer. I am very frustrated right now. I really want to get on with my life and get started on my new journey.

Oh that is AWFUL!!  So disappointing!  Hang in there!

One of the guys in my class had wls last week and the doctor removed his hernia during the procedure. Is that not an option for you as well.

Did you mention to the hernia surgeon that you were pursuing WLS? Depending on the type of hernia and urgency of getting it repaired, they may actually prefer to do it after weight loss as obesity can increase hernia recurrence rates.

My surgeon fixed my hernia at the same time as WLS. Good Luck

Thank you for all of the replies. I haven't been to my informational session yet, so I wasn't planning on WLS until at least next summer. I will mention to my surgeon what I am thinking and see if I can put it off until then. Thanks again.

I had a hiatal hernia and they were able to repair it during my WLS.  There are other kinds of hernias too though, so find out what kind  you have and inquire as to whether  you can have it taken care of during the surgery.  I believe most can be done this way.
