I've had both multis, two doses of calcium, my vitamin A and my magnesium oxide.  I am currently enjoying a cappucino protein shake (with syntrax nectar cappucino which is now my favorite protein powder) with my last dose of calcium in it.  And I will do my iron and C at bedtime.  Oh, and I did my B12 shot this morning.  I finally got over being afraid to stick myself.

I've had my 2 multi, and 2 of my 3 calciums. I'll take my last calium before bed. I don't start my B12 shots until next month and the iron until I think 3mths post op.

Kelly is there a cheaper website to buy the Syntrax Cappucino ($74.95  a tub) ? It's my new favorite as well.

I ordered from Netrition.com.  I got a 2.2 lb tub for $31.49.

Why aren't you starting iron until three months post op?

Kelly,

Because that's the my doctor has it listed for the supplements. I bought the bariatric advantage rny 90 day starter kit and it has calcium, multi, iron & b12 but the way they laid it out for us in nutrition class we don't start until 3mths post op.

He did sent me for lab work this week.

Should I start taking it sooner?

I don't know.  the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery says you should start both your multi and iron the day after you come home from the hospital following RNY.  So you might want to ask your doc why he disagrees with that recommendation.

The BA multi has no iron in it, right?  I did not take iron right after my RNY either, because my surgeon said I didn't need it.  I started mine about three months out when I had my first set of labs and, as you might imagine, discovered I was anemic.

You'll need to decide what's right for you.  I'm just wondering why you and/or your doctor would think you would not need any iron for three whole months.

I'm not sure why he doesn't want us to take iron yet. I'll be sure to ask at my next visit (im not in a rush to take it especially since im having such a difficult time with constipation). I did go buy the Magoxide (400mg)and the D3 today.

If you use carbonyl iron when you do start taking it, it usually doesn't cause constipation.  I think the biggest reason  many of us get constipated is the low fiber in our diet.

They took me off everything but my calcuim and D before my surgery.  I feel lost without all the others.  I can't start them back for a few weeks because they will start me on coumedin and evidently, that reacts with lots of stuff.
