Good thinking for mentioning the thyroid meds and calcium.  I think there are a bunch of vitamins/minerals that aren't supposed to be taken with thyroid meds, aren't there?  I've never taken thyroid meds so I think that's why I always forget to mention it.

A lot of stores carry chewable Centrum but if you can't find t hem in stores, you can order them on drugstore.com.

That's cool that you were a massage therapist.  I wish I could afford a massage regularly.

I've been on Synthroid for half my life (really!). You need to take it on an empty stomach with water for best absorption. Antacids, iron and calcium supplements, dietary fiber, soy and even walnuts can affect your body’s absorption of Synthroid. That tid bit is straight off the insert that accompanies my RX every month.

If you take a multivitamin with 100% of the RDA of most vitamins and minerals in it, how much should you take a day?  You should be taking two a day.

Can you take your calcium supplement at the same time as your multivitamin?  Explain why or why not.  You can.  As far as I know, the only vitamin/mineral you can't take with calcium is iron, and most multi's don't contain iron, or if they do it's a very small amount.

What important nutrients are missing from Flintstones?  D3, Selenium plus several more I can't think of.

Why should we not take gummy multivitamins?  I have no idea, actually.. except that most gummy vitamins are not complete.  They are right on par with Flinstone vitamins.

Do we need a chewable multi?  When (if ever) can we start taking a multi that we swallow?  You should always follow doctor's orders, but I was able to swallow regular pills before I ever even left the hospital.  I MUCH prefer to swallow my vitamins.  (This applies to multis, but NOT to b12.. that must be either sublingual, a shot or the nasal spray)

Do we need a “bariatric" multivitamin?  Explain why or why not.  I don't see why we would.  I haven't done much research on specialty vitamins for bariatric patients, but I assume the draw would be that it has like 200% of everything in one pill or some such thing.  Since we can't actually ABSORB 200% of all vitamins in one shot (otherwise I would just take all of my vitamins at one time), it seems like a waste of money.  I also assume that they are expensive (as most specialty items are).  Why would I spend $239187319287 on something I can get for $4 at Walmart?

That would be 2, Alex :)

You can if your multi doesn't contain iron in it.
What important nutrients are missing from Flintstones?
THe only one I know for sure is Selenium.
Why should we not take gummy multivitamins?
Because like Flinstones, most do not have all of the nutrients we need, plus, we probably don't absorb those gummies very well.
Do we need a chewable multi? When (if ever) can we start taking a multi that we swallow?
Nope, and as soon as you are able to without it feeling stuck or making you ill (per my MD).
Do we need a “bariatric" multivitamin? Explain why or why not.
Nope, as long as your multi have almost 100% of anything you can get Walmart brand if you want. Marketting something as "bariatric" is a gimmic to me.
