I apologize

My analogy of people not wanting to "take the easy way out" by having WLS being like someone not wanting to take the easy way out by having surgery for cancer apparently fell way flat.  I indicated at the end of my  post that it was sarcasm.  I apologize and I feel terrible that people actually thought I had cancer.  I don't.  I'm really sorry it didn't come across the way I intended it to.  I feel awful about it.

Ok I am confused. I read that post and completely understood what you meant  - to be honest  I thought it a good way to make the point.

OK, I'm glad you got it.  From a few of the responsed I was getting, it looked as it some people thought I was saying I was really ill.  I didn't want to mislead anyone and I didn't want anyone to worry.

I thought it was a good point, too.  We would have any other kind of surgery that we need, at least most of us would, most of the time.  And we wouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed or think we were taking the easy way out or any of those things.

I too thought it was a well made point.  I also use the analogy of walking to work vs driving a car....I guess driving is the "easy way out"?  Hell yeah it is, and I am SMART for doing so!

No harm no foul.....at least not to me..........keep your posts coming!

I think I've used the car analogy before.  We do lots of things in life the way that is easiest for us.  In most cases, people seem to think it's good to do things as efficiently and quickly as possible.  Why do you think we have microwave ovens and clothes dryers and drive thru restaurants?  If it's not better to walk to work, then why would it be better to lose weight the hardest way possible?

Oops, I did respond that I was alarmed, but thank goodness you are okay (at least ok in the way I thought you weren't!).

I was a little confused when I read your initial post  at first...then read your "sarcastic" line and read your post again...realised the "easy way out" comment and the rest of the post just didn't sound like you...a bit slow but I got there.  Guess we sometimes read things quickly or skim over lines....sorry you got into trouble.

I often use the analogy of an alcoholic.  If we had a pill that would stop the alcoholic from drinking, would we deny him/her because it was "the easy way".  Of course not.  Anything that worked when all else failed it the SMART way.
