Self-inflicted Dumping

Not the Same Dawn

I've sort of pondered this question myself but I have some thoughts..You know that alcoholics know they're gonna have a hangover and probably get sick when they drink..If they aren't deterred from it..why should we be?

I would have picked at the cole slaw and left the other stuff alone. Skinny people are very picky eaters..you can be too, you just have to set your mind in that direction..skinny people also don't feel any shame in throwing out plates of food they don't like or won't eat..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Been there and done that too many times...and it still hasn't stopped me. My husband has even told me before "you know this will make you sick..." Yep, I know that, do it, and of course, get sick. Oye.

Lol, my bf will see me eating something...even if it's healthy and he will say...don't over do it or you're going to be miserable. He knows before I even eat it. Even last night, I was eating dinner and he said...you just took that tylenol and it's in your stomach, you might not want to eat too much. Hate it that he's always right, but love that he looks out for me.

I think I would have picked the crust off the fish and eaten a touch of the cole slaw. Anything more and i'd have been miserable too.

Met my first goal, met my second goal, met my surgeons goal. Now I have a new goal!

I keep emergency food with me at work.  I keep almonds or trail mix so when I get hungry I eat this and then when food like that is there, which is pretty frequent, I am already full and can easily avoid it.  People are used to me not eatting with them now.  I sit down with them with a drink and can still enjoy the company.  Love yourself first!!!

Joyful in my pursuit of healthy living.

Yeah the link between not eating and being considered "ungrateful" concerns me.

I want to tell you a story.

About two months after my surgery I landed my DREAM JOB. The first day, as was the tradition, the whole team gathered to take me to lunch. At a bistro where healthy food is sparse and the portions are plentiful.

Nowadays that wouldn't be a problem. I can eat enough to fake it. But back then three bites and I was down for the count. I too worried about looking ungrateful. I also didn't want to announce my whole medical history to a group of people I didn't know on my first day at work! (They'd find out soon enough, three months later I was 70 lbs lighter!).

So I pulled my supervisor into the office and basically just told her the situation. She was very understanding and helped diffuse attention from what I was or was not eating. Sometimes it's good to have an ally.

My point in telling you this story is that you don't owe anyone anything. Your eating choices are YOURS. If something will make you sick, you have the right to refuse and not give anybody any reason.

Is there a committee for this gathering? If so, you might consider joining it next year to advocate for healthier choices. I'm sure everyone could benefit.

Hugs. I hope you eventually felt better.
