2 weeks from today...
I will be having my RNY surgery! I am wondering, is there anything I should do in these next two weeks to prepare (besides what the surgeon asks us to do)? Any advise from post op's would be appreciated :)
I have bought all my vitamins: multi, 2500 b12 once a week, iron and vitamin C, calcium citrate. Anything else I should get vitamin wise?
Anything non-vitamin I should get? What has worked for you?

I needed to start taking Miralax post op and added Benefiber every day to keep me from getting constipated. But it's not something that you should automatically pick up because you may not need it. Most people need something to keep regular but some don't. My surgeon puts everyone on Prilosec or Prevacid for 3 months postop prophylactically. I used a pill crusher and mixed Prilosec with applesauce until I could swallow pills whole again. I got a 12 oz. sippy cup which I still use for my protein shake especially when I'm out and about in the car. I got myself a small cooler and ice packs. I never leave home without being prepared with a 16 oz. bottle of water, a bottle of crystal lite, a protein bar. I work 12 hr. shifts and I bring a big cooler to work with everything I need to eat and drink for the day, including my vitamins. I prepour my vitamins for the week in those plastic pill boxes.
I know this can be a pain in the butt....but....I can't say enough about how important it was for me to keep a food journal. Especially keeping a tally of my liquid intake. You can fall behind on your liquids pretty quickly when your day gets busy.
Don't be nervous. Be excited!

I too carry a cooler bag to work w/me with all my liquid, water bottle & foods I can have. I bought a protein shake mixer at GNC, the small one and love it. I also HATE tracking my intake but found a great website that pretty much does everything for you, you can even scan your food in now. It MyFitnessPal, the link is on my OH profile.
I am 19days pre-op. Not really nervous, more excited for this new & lifelong change! Good luck w/your surgery. See you in support.
