Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Kelly:
First of all let me say how sorry I am. I will pray that whatever method you use, that it will work.
There is a risk in any surgery as we all know. In the same manner, no one that has WLS can expect the same results as anyone else. We are all individuals. Cancer is such a mystery and it affects many people in different ways. There is no absolute method to cure.
If you are a Christian, then pray for the right thing to do. You will make the correct decision for you. Do lots of research on both methods.

On a personal level, if it was me, I'd have the surgery. I think I'd have a better shot at defeating the beast.

Good luck Kelly and God bless.

Sorry to hear that your not well. I'd go for the surgery and then try the diet. Colon cancer is a killer and I can't imagine you not part of the solution. Hope you get all you're questions answered quickly

Kelly,

I cried when I read your post because it so saddens me that someone who offers so much of herself to others is in such a confusing place right now.

I wish I had an answer for you, but could not venture to even guess what the right decision would be; however, I trust you well enough to know that you will eventually come up with the right answer for you.

Please know that prayers have been sent up for you...

My inclination would be to do it all.  How fast is the cancer growing?  do you have time to give the diet say 6 months to see if it will work?  Can you do both?

You are a strong woman and I think if you set your mind to following the diet, you can.  I just don't know enough about colon cancer to see it that is really a clear option for a cure.

Prayers going your way to show you a direction.

Oh no Kelly!  Your original post was deleted by the time I got to the thread, but by reading the responses of everyone else, I am dreadfully alarmed by what they imply.  Whatever is going on, I wish you all the luck and the skill of a good surgical team.

Kelly, I too must have missed your original post.

From my heart to yours, I am praying that God gives you His guidance and surrounds you with doctors, nurses, staff who are more than knowledgeable and sensitive to your needs.  That people are put in your path who have nothing but positivity oozing out, and strength to give you through this time of healing. I pray for peace in your spirit ...

I do believe Kelly was making a  comparison of cancer and treating on her own to obesity and treating it on your own:).  I meant to reply this morning and ran out of time!  Great comparison Kelly, even if it was lost in translation!
