Have you tried the smoothies?  Much better than the clear drinks.

Life is too short to repeat that experiment!
I bought a case of Premier protein bars tonight at costco. There are some new flavors. I've decided I need to have some more portable protein on me so I don't default to junky carbs when I'm out.

A bit late but I wanna answer!!!

1.  Name five bad things that happen if we don’t get enough protein.

#1 - our bodies eat our muscles!!!
#2 - our hair falls out!!! (although I still don't fully get why)
#3 - we can begin to consume too many carbs which could lead to stalls and weight gain
#4 - Our NUT might ***** slap us
#5 - We inevitably will begin to psych ourselves out, which can fuel us RIGHT back into the bad eating habits we had before.

2.  Explain why those protein shots or bullets are not a good choice for us.  Bonus points if you can tell us where collagen (the main type of protein in those shots) comes from.

Collagen = fat = our bodies don't absorb it well. Protein encased in fat = no good.

Collagen comes from animal fat, doesn't it?

3.  If you can’t tolerate whey protein powders, what alternatives do you have?

Infinite. Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, tuna fish, canned chicken, etc., etc., etc. You could also try RTD protein drinks which may work better.

4.  How will you know for sure if you are getting enough protein?

By:

a) measuring your food properly
b) recording what you ate on a food journal
c) planning your meals so that they are protein forward

5.  How much protein can we absorb at one time?

Who knows! I don't think there is a set number. It depends on your body, your activity level, etc., etc.

I like reason #4 for what might happen if we don't get enough protein.

And I don't really know why not getting enough protein makes hair fall out either.  I just tried to google it but wasn't getting an answer.  I'll have to see what I can find out.

Really, I don't know why a lot of nutritional deficiencies cause the symptom they do.  I know why iron deficiency makes you tired - because you need iron in your blood to take oxygen around to all your organs, so if you are really anemic, your brain and heart and stuff are not getting the oxygen they need.  But I don't have a clue why lack of vitamin A causes night blindness or lack of B12 makes you depressed or lack of vitamin D increases your risk of cancer.

Want the chicken soup protein?

Unjury? Oh good Gawd, no!

I just answered cuz I like your quizzes. Out of respect to Jerome at Unjury I will simply say it's not my cup of...protein. :)

Oh no, not Unjury.  Bariatric Advantage.  Did you know they have chicken soup protein now?  I got a sample in the mail a couple days ago.

I've actually never tried Unjury.  but from a nutritional standpoint, it looks good.  Me and Jerome don't agree on what vitamins post ops  need, but I think their protein is a good choice.  As long as someone likes the taste, anyway.

But this is BA, not Unjury.  I think they have tomato soup protein too.  Something besides chicken.  But I did not get a sample of that one.
