When did you begin your multivitamins after surgery?
Started them two weeks after surgery.
When did you begin your iron?
A month after surgery (even though I am menopausal)
When did you begin your calcium citrate?
Two weeks after surgery

Was given my first shot 1 week after surgery
If you took other vitamins initially after surgery, like a B Complex or D3, what did you take and when did you start taking it?
Didn't start D3 or otehr supplements until a few months (like 2-3) post op after I had read stuff from Vitalady, Kelley and Andrea and others.
Were you following your doctor's advice or did you decide to start at a different time than he or she recommended?
Following my surgeons program. He instructs everyone to start their Vitamin/Calcium regimin 2-3 weeks post op after things have healed well and there are no gross complications.

I started everything a few days after I got home from the hosiptal. I have recently stopped taking iron because labs said my iron level was way to high. I am post menopause and may actually have to give blood to get my levels down. Another reason to get copies of your labs. Neither my surgeon or my PCP said anything about the high iron levels but the lab report said they were at the high critical level. So keep an eye on your labs you can not depend on the medical professionals to do it for you

both, since I was already taking preop vites I just continued them, then started everything else a week or so after my 10 day follow up

Good evening..started taking my iron, vitamin b complex , mulit-vitamin 3 wks before started on OCT31 ....I don't start taking my Calcium & Vitamin B12 not until Stage 1 after surgery ..Had to do every other day for the Iron cause it made me constipated with the Protein diet....my Gastric Bypass surgery is scheduled for Nov.21,2011

Haven't yet, not sure about my plan for that. The doctor says I only need to take it during "that time of the month" since my multi has iron, but we'll see.
