Your PhD.  That's impressive.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Late last year I was laid off after being a researcher for McGraw-Hill for 20 years.
Since 2007 I have had cancer 3 times.
I now have late stage melanoma and am trying a brand new drug therapy.
It was just approved in August & is the first drug treatment for melanoma ever.
Anyway, after I got laid off I decided I wanted to work in health care so I am going to school to be a back office medical assistant.
After I get back to work & make some money I hope to go to India to volunteer.

I've been many things in my life.  The last 7 years prior to surgery I worked at home doing medical transcription.  The pay started to go south the more they started outsourcing work to other countries and adding in voice recognition (they figure you can do twice as much work in half the time, so they pay half for that work).  Right before surgery I made a huge change in my life and quit working.  I'm now a full-time student at a local community college getting an AAS in biotechnology.  I'm not sure what I'll do with my degree yet when I graduate.  I'm leaning towards disease research, GMO foods, or just a more general job doing quality assurance in the industry.  School stress and a few other things have triggered a ton of epileptic issues, so next semester I drop back to part time (8 hours a semester) and I plan to graduate in spring 2013.

I work in a big hospital full-time as an insurance specialist.  I also go to school full-time.  I'm majoring in Criminal Justice, minoring in Psychology, and specializing in Forensics.  I graduate in July 2012.

I'm in a relationship with my boyfriend who has six year old twins.  We also have a three year-old pug who has no idea he is a dog.  :-)

I'm a family court case manager, dealing mostly with child support.  I wish I would have gone to law school~I thought about it, but got married...

I have my masters degree in Early Childhood Special Education and I am the Director of an Early Intervention program (kinda've like the principal in a school).  We provide OT, PT, ST, and special ed services (and alot more!) to babies and toddlers with disabilities and developmental delays.  :)

It's a great job!  When I'm not doing administrative stuff, I get to play with babies.  FUN!

I am a child care licensing inspector.  Make sure centers and family day care follow state guidelines.  Most of the time it is a great job.  But there are some scary places out there.

I'm a service consultant, tires salesperson and tow operations manager for a local tire and auto service center.  I used to do web design and am looking to get back into doing some freelance work in that field.
