Greek yogurt and protein shakes

Hello!
I broke down tonight and finally bought some greek yogurt. I've read from several different websites the different things I can do with greek yogurt. I was wondering if anyone on here has any different ideas on using greek yogurt or what they add to it?
I am going shopping tomorrow for some new protein, I ran out of my samples I bought from vitalady and unfortunately I didn't really like any of them. So hopefully I can find one that I like tomorrow at GNC or vitamin shoppe, or somewhere! Any suggestions? I was also wondering if anyone has any good recipes to use for protein shakes? I'm not a big hot drink fan, I usually stick to the cold ones. I like to mix it up from time to time. I like the obvious chocolate, on occasion vanilla, but I also like the fruity ones. I've found a lot of good recipes that I want to try once I find a protein I like, but any more suggestions would be wonderful! Thanks.

I have found my favorite protein shake is Gold Standard double rich chocolate. Kinda funny as I am not a chocolate fan. I make my shakes in my magic bullet with milk and ice, just like a milk shake. Yummy. protein is 24 grms, plus if you use milk you get extra protein.
You can find recipes at bariactricfoodie, or eggface.
I love the Fage yogurt the best. I sometimes use frozen fruit or no sugar added jam to plain yogurt, if you want more sweet taste add some artificial sweetner.
Hope this helps. Good luck and btw your tastes will change as time goes by.

I am not a protein lover but i tried the unjury protein.  I got some samples and i decided to try some strawberry sorbet protein.  I take a couple strawberrys, about 2 tablespoons of banana, 3/4 scoop of the SSprotein, 1/2 cup of milk, a couple ice cubes and about 2 tsp of SF raspberry syrup.  Mix it all up in my bullet and it tastes like a strawberry/banana like malt.  Its a bit thick but not as thick as a a malt or smoothie.  I am sure you could throw some yogurt in it and make it a smoothie.  Tonight i threw in some wheat germ just for the heck of it.  Need the fiber.  I think this is about 20 - 25 grams of protein..  I haven't tried all these yogurt recipes either but some people have some good ideas.. Put some cheese cake (sf) jello pudding in some yogurt tastes like cheesecake.  Put some SF jelly or preserves in adds fruit and maybe a bit of splenda to sweetin it up i heard is good.  I need to try these things.  lol i will use the vanilla yogurt for sour cream sometimes....hope that helps!

I also have some rasberry light n' fit yogurt that I haven't used yet and was interested in using to flavor a shake but I'm not too certain how to go about it. I was thinking unflavored whey protein, some milk, maybe a lil ice and the yogurt? Anyone have any suggestions?

RNY on 11/15/10 with
I eat the Kroger Carbmaster yogurt..it doesn't have as much protein (8 grams) but it isn't as thick and I like it better (lots of flavors).  I add the vanilla to smoothies/shakes.  I DO add the greek yogurt to chili and other things instead of sour cream.

I just posted a recipe for a protein shake before I saw your posting using:

skim milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use Body Fortress but any would work)
1 packet SF Alpine Spiced Apple Cider Instant Drink Mix (found it by the coffee/tea at Walmart)
Ice...threw it in the blender.  I could have used a little less than the whole packet actually.  The drink mix only has 15 calories for a whole packet, 4 carbs, 0 sugars and 0 sugar alcohols.  It was super yummy and I would think it would be good hot too.

I get the Isopure Dutch Chocolate Ultra-low Carb protein powder; I've used it for years! I also keep
the Vanilla flavor on hand, and use it with various berries in the blender. It also makes a great "egg nog" flavor by adding a sprinkle of nutmeg to it and mixing it in.

The Greek yoghurt is so flexible; I mix it with mandarin oranges and s/f Torani's Vanilla syrup and
use it as an evening snack, like pudding. Also like to mix it with berries and sprinkle stevia on it.

The 0% fat yoghurt is best, because you can not only use it in a sweet dish, you can use it plain
as a topper for refried beans w/cheese and salsa, or mix some granola and stevia into it for
breakfast, or mix a dry salad dressing mix (Hidden Valley) into it for a dip with cucumber or zucchini chips.

Very versatile stuff! And at 20-25 grams of protein, 0 fat and very low milk sugars, it's practically
a gift!!

Good luck!
