Delicious hot protein drink

I've been loving hot protein drinks recently and I like to play around with different ideas but some turn out better than others.  This morning's drink, I think, turned out perfectly.

I recently ordered some vitamins from vitalady and usually when I order vitamins from her, I also order a couple protein powder samples, just for variety.  This time one of the samples I got was Optimum Nutrition caramel toffee fudge.  Or maybe it was caramel fudge toffee.  I saved the label but I'm not getting up to go get it right now.

Anyway, I mixed about 3/4 of a scoop of the protein powder (half of the sample I received, about 18 grams protein) with a couple ounces of soy milk.

I put about eight ounces of water in the microwave and while it was heating, I stirred the protein powder/soy milk briskly with a fork.  The powder dissolved, really, really well.  Not all brands dissolve that well, at least not for me.

When my water was very warm, but not boiling hot, I poured the soy milk/protein powder into it and stirred some more.  There were no clumps at all and it was very smooth and creamy.  The flavor was a bit weak so I added about half a teaspoon of instant coffee to it - It would have had more flavor if I'd used the whole sample pack but I wanted to try a cold drink with it, too.

It's delicious.  And I am just thrilled with how well the protein mixed it.  I love hot protein drinks but sometimes I end up with a few small lumps.  As long as it's not a lot of lumps and they are small, I'll still drink it.  But you would never know there was protein in this one.

Sounds yummy!  I like drinking hot protein drinks when the weather turns cold.  I just made my first fall season, double batch of Pam's Protein Chai Tea Mix.
I just love it!

Yeah, if you click on protein, you'll see all the different protein shakes she carries and you can order a whole tub but you can also order a sample of them.  It's a great way to see which ones you like before you buy a big tub or if you don't want to use a particular flavor all the time but just want it once in a while, the little packs are nice.

i usually do protein hot chocolate (the powder instead of hot chocolate mix) and last year someone posted a recipe for a white hot chocolate that for some reason i only made once even though i loved it. it was vanilla powder made like the regular hot chocolate and a few pumps of sf white chocolate syrup and i feel like some splenda for some reason. maybe i'll sip some during desperate housewives tonight

Isn't it so nice to find/create a good tasting protein drink?

I've struggled since surgery (3+ years ago) to find a protein I liked. I had found one before surgery and loved it, but they changed the formula and it was too sweet so I hated it. I have tried everything under the sun, and created every concoction I could imagine...just to chug it down unhappily until I just couldn't chug any more. lol

BUT FINALLY, I have found one (Allmax Nutrition, Isoflex) that I don't just like, I LOVE IT! It mixes great, doesn't taste weird (to me...I know our taste buds are all magically different), and the stats are great too! (27 g protein per scoop and 110 cals, I don't remember the sugar grams but it's either 1 or 0). Anyway your hot drink reminded me of this because while I like the "peanut butter chocolate" flavor made with cold almond milk, the "chocolate" flavor was a little too sweet for my personal taste...I mixed it with hot tap water, and wha la! Hot cocoa! It seriously tastes (to me) just like a cup of hot chocolate. No weird protein taste. Just hot chocolate. Now if we could just create protein marshallows...ha!

Anyway, I'll have to try your concoction too because it does sound really good too!
