Dear Poet Kelly - Thanks
Dear Poet Kelly,
I finally needed to take a minute to thank you for all the times you take to answer questions on this forum. There is no incentive or pay off for you, and that's what makes it even more special that you're here to help. I see you patiently answer the same questions over and over and over again as if they'd just been asked for the first time. I've saved so many of your informative posts just in case I ever needed that information, and last night I did. After an especially excruciating experience in the bathroom, in which I prayed almost as hard as when I was a young party goer hanging my head in the bowl and promising god I would never drink again I knew I had to do more. I pulled up some of your responses to the dreaded Constipation subject. You recommended Miralax..yayyy! I was a little concerned about that advice because I didn't want to become laxative dependent, so I did some searching and just as you said, it was okay long term even though the bottle said no more than 2 weeks. I immediately went to the store and when I got home I mixed it in a protein shake and prepared myself for a funky drink. Much to my surprise.....it was Great! It didn't alter the taste whatsoever. Just a half hour ago I was in the bathroom, and it appears my worries are over! THANK YOU Poet Kelly for flying on my wing, and getting me through this difficulty.

You made me spit my drink on my keyboard.

I had the terrible constipation, too. It was so bad that I gave myself a hernia from straining. I started taking Miralax daily and 500mg of magnesium oxide twice a day and I have gone regularly ever since.
I just wanted to let you know that if the constipation is chronic you can see if your doctor will prescribe it. My insurance pays for it and it only costs me $2.50 for 3 months. I found that I have to take it daily, even if it works too well. If I miss a day I know it.
Good luck to you.

I meant to ask my psychiatrist for a prescription when I saw him yesterday and I totally forgot. Now I gotta call my PCP.
