The Conversation I Keep Having

I have had this conversation in some form no less than ten times in the past week.

PERSON:       Nikki! How you doing?

ME:                 Good and you?

PERSON:       Fine! (Looks me up and down) You’ve lost more weight since I last saw you.

ME:                 You think?

PERSON:       I know! Are you still losing weight.

ME:                 I dunno.

PERSON:       (Looks at me quizzically)

ME:                 I stopped weighing regularly ages ago, but last I checked I’ve been the same weight about a year and some change now.

PERSON:       Well I think you lost more!

Now this is from people who see me fairly regularly (at least once a month) so I decide to get on the ol’ Tanita scale at the gym. Plus, my pants have been fitting a bit loose so I was just curious. The result? I am the same weight I have been the past 18 mos.

So there ya go. I’m not mad or sad or happy or any other feeling. It is what it is. I am what I am. I guess now I can say with more assurance, if I get into this conversation again, that no I have not lost any more weight. LOL!

I bet you've lost inches and gained muscle. Either way, looking good is nice right? lol

…probably not that either. Going to the gym to weigh was the first time I’d been in far too long. I’ve been feeling under the weather (tummy and overall). I am willing myself to go to Zumba tonight, though!

I think the looseness of my clothes might be water weight. I haven't been eating much lately.

Yea, Nikki.  I wanna see some recent photos.  I have been having the same experience too, not much weight loss but a lot of people who see me everyday are saying that every time they see me I look like I lost weight.  Even people I do not even know but work in the same buiding have comments on one thing or another about my journey in the past three years.  I know how you feel.  I am at a stand still as well but I have been wearing the right size clothes now so that may have some effects.  I just hate to spend money on clothes that I am just going to grow out of in a couple of months.  Done that twice and learned real quick.  I have even taken up wear clothes from my smaller friends who have grown to big for their cothes and were going to give them to the Goodwill.  I have not been too successful at Thrift stores or other consignment shops.  I have lots of clothes I need to replace but I refuse to spend thousands of $'s to buy a new wardrobe.  I am doing good with the hand me downs right now and I guess I am looking good by the compliments I have been receiving.  You are probably looking good as well so let me see some of those new pics.  Get them on here!!!!

My avatar was only taken a few weeks ago so that's pretty recent.

I need to take some new photos. I just haven't been feeling that great!

You have had a lot of "bad food days" lately (for clarification, on "bad food days" nothing sits well and I don't eat much) - maybe the lbs are holding on for dear life and you're due to see a change on the scale soon?

I have a variation of that conversation pretty regularly too.  I lost 2lbs this week, but my weight had been stable since March.  At least your conversation is positive!

OMG ... This is the exact conversation I have with at least 5 people EVERYDAY.  Everyone says I'm losing more weight and I'm NOT.  I tell them I'm NOT and I have weighed the same weight for the past 8 months and they don't beleive me.  They do make me wonder and I go weigh myself and it is ALWAYS the same.  Sometimes a tad more or a tad less depending on how much of eaten or drank but nothing significant.  It's a little frusterating for me because I do want the scale  to match what others see, but no luck...

Too funny---
