so dizzy this morning

Today I woke up feeling like I have a hangover even though I had nothing to drink. My balance is off and I can't walk straight. The room is spinning. I'm also reacting and talking and thinking slowly. Could I just be getting normal sick since the first time since surgery? Or could this be surgery related. I am going to give it an hour to see if I feel better and call my surgeon if I don't but please tell me anything you know about this.

I feel that way sometimes and was told it was ow blood sugar. Try to eat and make sure you are getting enough liquids. You will feel similar if you are dehydrated too.

Agreed. I did not drink enough yesterday and felt very dizzy last night. Please be careful and maybe go lay down for a while to see if it passes (after you drink some water as well).

Dehydration may be the issue here.  Have you had labs done recently??  It may be due to a low vitamins level too.DAVE

I just ate and I feel worse. I was supposed to get my labs done today but i didn't because of how I'm feeling. I'm worried about driving to work....

Hi, please don't drive any where especially if you are feeling sick with those sumptome that you mentioned.  You may be putting yourself in harms way.  Can you call a friend or someone.  I would like you to be safe and not in danger.  Call your surgeon right away. plse let us know what's going on.

Sounds like a classic case of Vertigo. Do youn have someone with you? If so, ask them to look at you, while you look directly at something... if your eyes "bounce", then its vertigo, and you will ned to see a dr ASAP. They can give you Meclazine, and a couple of other things... if its not too bad yet, try Dramamine - it has low doses of Meclaine based product, and can calm mild vertigo.

I have suffered from positional vertigo for years, and surgery exacerbated it - causing me to have to be in bed for the first 2-3 days after surgery. I am still on meds 2 weeks later, and have mild bouts of it now.

When in doubt, have it checked out. No, do not drive yourself anywhere - trust me, you will not be able to handle the looking around, or turning your head.

Good luck, and keep us all posted!!

I'm feeling a lot better now. I don't know what it was. Maybe low blood sugar or something. Thanks for everyone's responses and suggestions.

Lots of post ops experience this. For some it's time to eat, for others it's a sign of dehydration. We also have periods during our weight loss where our bodies "re-set" our center of gravity and for a time we're a bit dizzy and don't have good balance. check with your doc if you're concerned, b ut make sure you have enough protein in you to get from meal to meal, and up your water intake and see if it doesn't go away.
