low carb snack ideas?

Beans- all kinds - on top of the soy beans listed by others.

Bean dip, bean salad, roasted and salted beans, hummus made with beans...

oatmeal - it's higher carb, but has some protein - which leads to granola...

nuts

peanut butter on stuff (apples, celery) or just by the spoonful...

egg salad in addition to the other poster's deviled eggs

then there's our old trusty protein shakes and protein bars - there's a recipe out there for protein balls -

It's expensive, but I've seen protein snacks out there - like chips and stuff - I don't know if it's vegetarian or not.

Some of my best success with snacks comes from just turning it into a meal - seems to satisfy my stomach and my brain - so that helps you to think about snacks in a new way.

I'm with you on the carbs - I do better and feel better when I do low carb -- but they're so dang tasty!

I just bought edamame without the shell frozen at trader joes. It's a lot of protein for a good serving. Also I know I keep mentioning it but HI LO cereal is SO good and has 12 grams of protein for 1/2 a cup. That would make a great snack. I also found pumpkorn on Netrition that I am going to order in a few days. It's pretty cheap and looks good. It is flavored pumpkin seeds. You've also probably tried Just the Cheese which I don't like but I know some people do.

Can you only order the HI LO cereal on line or is it the stores?

We have 3 major grocery store chains in our county and I only found it in 1. And it also wasnt in every store of that chain. I haven't checked the specialty stores like whole foods. You might get lucky though so look around. I just bought the vanilla almond flavor. It is pretty good! Not as good as the maple pecan but still tasty! Good luck finding it!!

For crunchy/salty, I gravitate towards kale chips (homemade b/c the kinds in Whole Foods taste nasty to me) and just started snacking on French's fried onions. Not good if you're tempted to eat the whole container but I'm good with just a couple tablespoons.

Hi Kelly,

I have 1 recipe for  now, and one for when you find the milk you want.  I hope they  help.

Cheese Chips with Salsa:
I put 1/2" cubes of cheese on parchment paper and bake at 400 degrees until brown and crisp. They're like cheese chips when done. Then I put put salsa on them for a nice treat. I usually bake a bunch and bag some for later.

Greek Onion Dip and Veggies: (once you find Dairy you are comfortable with)
I make Lipton French Onion Dip per the package instructions but use Greek Yogurt instead. I dip cukes and peppers in it for a nice snack.

Thanks, and Kelly go eat some of these so I can live vicariously!

Really good suggestions everyone.  I do like the chick peas roasted in the oven.  They do help.
Carbs have a way of increasing my appetite so I am going to have to watch that also.

What is Edemame? How do you eat it.
thanks for the good posts.

I sometimes snack on freeze dried fruit I buy on Amazon....Brothers brand one bag has around 40calories...no added sugar. Along with SF hard candy, and protein bars those are my "go to" snacks for a sweet tooth.
