Protein Shakes

I'm just wondering for those who still use protein shakes, do you use them as a meal replacement? or in between meals? as a snack? Just curious. I'm 3 years out from RNY and I still like to drink shakes sometimes but I don't want to be getting too many calories by having shakes and meals.

I don't really differentiate between meals and snacks.  I eat about six times a day and sometimes one of those six times actually involves drinking a protein shake instead of eating food.

Ditto Kelly. Depends on the day and the pouch. I always have a protein drink for
breakfast and then sometimes for a meal or snack later.

I like my protein shake for breakfast, and sometimes have one in the evening. The rest of my protein I get from food. I keep an eye on total calories to regulate amount of intake.

I have a protein shake each morning for breakfast after I have my coffee. It gives me a great surge of energy. Occasionally I will eat a regular type breakfast, (veggie/cheese omelet or egg and bacon, etc) especially if I am on vacation. I am happiest with my protein shake, though. I f I think my protein intake on any given day is on the low side, I have a protein shake in the evening as well.

I am not a fan of breakfast food since having the surgery so my breakfast is always a protien shake.  Currently my protien level is low so I am having a second shake in the afternoon.  I still eat a normal lunch and dinner with my main food being protien.
