What a stupid jack a**!
It is kind of funny because it’s the ones that have nasty things to say about others that end up the exact same way 10 years from now.  What goes around comes around…..

How tragic....If he keeps that up that little girl might possibly grow up with some really unhealthy, judgmental attitudes towards the overweight and obese.  My husband's father modeled that before his kids because my mother-in-law was extremely obese...she actually had a bypass in 1975.  My husband internalized his father's bad behaviors and grew up with a poor attitude about those who are overweight and obese.  At 62 it is something he has to work hard to combat.  I feel badly for your daughter.  I bet that did upset her.

my mom was one of those rude and judgemental people. she was always whispering under her breath saying things like "oh my. you don't want to be like that when you grow up." And you know what? I knew she was a total ***** at my young age to be saying that to me and saying it at all.

best wishes,
Shiloh

I really am glad I didn't hear him...I probably would have caused a scene.  I'm not one to hold my tongue.

Well, so true.... You can't fix stupid...

I sooo feel for you and your daughter. My daughter is 12 and (like your daughter, I'm sure) very sweet and caring with a heart the size of Texas!!! My mini me would have been broken-hearted too. And I can identify with "probably a good thing I didn't hear it." My personality is such that: if you intentionally "bite at" me, I'm gonna "bite back" - - but hurt my baby girl and the claws come out!!!

Good for you using it as a teaching moment.....

Good thing it wasn't me and my kids, my 10 year old might have broken out the spider monkeys. He is very protective of mommies feelings. He was suspended from school in the 2nd grade for blooding a boy's nose for making fun of his mommy.

I'm sorry that guy was such a jerk & a coward! I'm glad you both took it as a learning moment and little comfort comes from the fact his little girl will probably have an eating disorder and internalized hatred.... It is good to stand up when you do hear such things. He may never learn, but that's not the point. Prejudice of obesity is not just what people say, but WHEN we don't defend ourselves bac****pt quiet far too long and promised myself to be an advocate of tolerance, regardless of WLS.
