I am 3 months post-op. I hadn't had any caffeine until maybe 2 weeks ago. I had 2 jars of unopened Click that I bought pre-op b/c I loved it for my pre-op diet. So 2 weeks ago, I opened it and had my 1st one. Now I am living off of it. This is what I do. 1st thing in am 8oz milk, 4oz of water 1 scoop of click and 1/2 a scoop of vanilla protein. The rest of my day goes like this: 4oz skim milk, 8oz of water, 1 scoop of click and 1/2 a scoop of vanilla protein. I do this probably 4 more times. I don't eat anything. Maybe a night I might have 16 microwaved turkey peperoni and a laughing cow light. Sometimes, I don't even eat. I am going to give myself an ulcer. I know this, but I can't stop. Once this can is done, I know I can buy anymore. It's not even like I need the caffeine for a pick me up. Even before I started the Click I had tons of energy.

Ugh, why did I even start back up on the stuff.

That's it?

Man I had my palms all greased up for nothing!

Yeah, you should lay off the caffeine until you are cleared for it but it sounds as if you know what you need to do. Stop buying the stuff. Yes, it's good but you have to wait just a bit long, k?

Oy...someone give me something to work with. I been itchin to "kickanass!!!!"

Heya Shellbell,

I am about 6 years post-op and everything worked very well for me. Here is a general rule of thumb for you...

If it isn't in the house, it is a lot harder to eat it.

Heck, I have a slice of cake or pie every now and then, but I don't keep it around. Everything in moderation. You like caffine? Cool. So do I. When I really get to wanting a caffine fix, I go have a small Latte at Starbucks. Everything in moderation. The thing that we all have to be on guard for is that we all have an addicts mind. What I mean by that, is we have addictive thinking. I don't like the labels "drug addict", "alcoholic", "food addict", etc... It makes it seem like there is some difference and really they are all the result of the same problem: addictive thinking.

So if you can do things in moderation, just every now and again, it is no problem. If you find yourself doing something over and over that you know is bad for you (drugs, booze, food, sex, anything), then leaving it completly alone is your best option.

Hope this helps, as you don't really need critisism, just constructive feedback.

Much Love,

Grego

Please eat, no matter what else you do! Practice healthy eating for the long term, and take good care of yourself!

I was drinking a mug of caffeinated coffee at 3 months out. My doctor knew about it, didn't approve, and shrugged his shoulders, saying it was the least of the possible post-WLS sins.

I was a coffee addict before surgery.  Not just coffee but lattes, iced coffee and my favorite, frappes.  I drank a lot of my calories.  Of course it was for the sugar as much as the caffeine but I definitely had a problem.
After surgery I gave it up for a while until I saw my NUT and asked about it.  I was told I could have 2 cups a day.  I was very good and measured out 2 cups and didn't have any more.  Made protein coffee and sugar free frappes.  And my anxiety came back in full force.  I started thinking about it and I realized that I hadn't had a panic attack since I quit the caffeine and I was having them terribly.  Never put the two together.  That was enough for me to quit.  Haven't had any since.  Still get anxiety but nowhere near as bad.
I do drink decaf because I really do like the taste of coffee, especially my protein frappes, but I avoid all caffeine like the plague now.

You do need to eat some food. I don't see a problem with your shakes though unless your surgeons recommends no caffeine yet. You are essentially getting 2 serving of Click per day, IMHO that isn't overdoing the caffeine.
