Mission Accomplished! BEYOND expectations!
Ok, so going into surgery I totally did it for my health. Lately due to a horrible stall (which broke today!) and the insecurity that losing weight can cause I think I lost site of that. Well my doctor ordered a whole lipid panel. She gave me one right before surgery in April 2011 and then I took it again yesterday....OMG!! The results are AMAZING!! I am in total disbelief I have never had numbers like this! What a great way to remind myself WHY I really did this. I GOT HEALTHY!! I"M HEALTHY!!!!
April 2011 Sept 2011
Overall chol: 217 Overall Chol: 107
Trigly: 175 Trigly: 53
LDL: 130 LDL: 51
HDL: 52 HDL" 46
Amazing.....just amazing! How many of you had big number drops like this? It this normal for things to drop so low so fast? And for the vets, did your numbers go back up?

My numbers dropped like yours, and have stayed down so far. I can't see a reason why they would go up again, not with the way I am eating and exercising.

Those are unbelievable stats! Good for you. My cholesteral dropped from 244 to 174. I am kind of disappointed. I don't eat red meat, maybe 5 time per year, only use olive oil and completely stopped using butter, and yet I am still at 174, and my high blood pressure returned. I guess it is genetic. I walk, a lot too. What do you do?
HBP runs in my family on both sides, even the thin members of my family have to take meds for it. Since surgery, I am pretty much off the meds and my BP is staying at a perfect range. I really hope to be able to stay off of those.
My brother is thin and only 35 years old but has horrible cholesterol issues. He is on meds, my mom is too and my sister had a heart attack at age 38 and she works out everyday and is a size 4. So my family is all jacked up. I hope I can stay off the HBP meds and I hope my numbers stay low like this on my lipid panel.....It is still amazing to me. My mom is so impressed with my results she is thinking about getting a RNY and self pay.
For exercise I don't do any right now due to knee issues that started in July. As soon as I can get this solved I am back to the gym. But I am a teacher and I do not sit at all during the weekdays, and I walk all over the place so I sure that helps.

Great NSV. Wish I could say I've had excellent results on cholesterol, unfortunately mine didn't go down much I'll probably end up on meds again. It's genetic for me, high cholesterol time on both sides of my family.
