Oh Nik! Protein pumpkin spice latte?

I saw an ad for Starbucks pumpkin spice latte today and it looked super yummy.  Or sounded yummy.  Whatever.

For some reason I've been craving pumpkin stuff lately.  Which is kinda weird because I don't normally like pumpkin stuff that much.  I don't even like pumpkin pie.  But what can I say?  I am planning to make some pumpkin bread soon.  Maybe some pumpkin muffins.  With protein, of course.

Anyway, I saw this ad and I thought, oh, I think Nik has a protein pumpkin spice latte or something like that.  So I just spenta quite some time looking at all the hot protein drink recipes I could find on Bariatric Foodie and I did not see one!  How can that be?

I did find a recipe for a pumpkin pie protein shake and saw that you use pumpkin pie sugar free syrup but you also said people could use pumpkin pie spice.  So if I used some water, some soy milk, instant coffee, vanilla protein powder and pumpkin pie spice would that work do you think?  Maybe with some splenda?

I've been getting the pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks recently.  The first time I got one post-op, it was WAY too sweet and gave me a stomach ache.  After that, I've just been telling them to only give me ONE pump of the syrup and HOLD the whipped cream, and I can handle that.  SO delicious!

Hmmm.  Do you have any idea how much sugar is in it the way you ask them to make it?

I wish Starbucks had more flavors of sugar free syrups.

I don't know, but I know that it doesn't make me sick, so I'm fine with whatever it is.

I just did a little research and a regular tall no-whipped cream Pumpkin Spice Latte with soy milk has 37 grams of sugar.  The sugar content is from both the soy milk and the regular 3 pumps of pumpkin spice syrup.  I couldn't get the information for just the pumpkin spice syrup, but I would have to imagine that the sugar content is reduced pretty significantly if you only get one pump instead of three pumps.

This was the best inquiry I never had to answer!

By the way, I always, always use instant decaf espresso in my latte drinks. It makes a difference. There should be a link to it in the recipe.
