Eating before gastric bypass

Oh heck yes I did.  My surgeon required a 2 week protien/liquid diet prior to surgery and if you did not lose weight between your last consult and the date of surgery he reserved the right to cancel your surgery.
However, my surgery was on 8/14/07 so 2 weeks and a few days prior to that, one of my friends and I went to Red Lobster for the all u can eat crab legs meal. Oh dear heaven, looking back now, I must have been looking like a crazy woman to those folks, grunting, squeeling, etc.... I can tell you that at 330 lbs and 5"4" I was as wide as I was tall, and I truly believe I ate my weight in crab legs. What I can tell you is I do not regret it, it was a stress release for me, I have had crab legs many times since, but it has never been as fun(only because we laughed at each other the whole time) and freeing.....lol.
I have maintained my weight loss, was down to 140 and am now 160, which looks better on me, but I have to admit I miss cleaning my plate at times.  See my new post for more info.....

There is a restaraunt that I am going to with the girls from work on Oct 5th and I will take my son there once more before I start my 2 week pre op milk diet.  The restraunt is called Jimmy Spice and operates as a help yourself buffet, its fantastic with  cooking stations for Indian, Chinese, Thai and Italian with lots of the food cooked for you in the restraunt, its amazing, there are starters including salads and Greek dishes, for each country loads of different main courses and then a whole section of desserts including a chocolate fountain, ice cream machine and puddings from each country.  It really is a fabulous experience.  Brilliant for tasting lots of different dishes, as long as you only take a tiny bit of each or you're full up on the first dish.  My husband and Daughter don't like spicy foods and really wouldn't enjoy it there but my Son is aware that we probably wont be going again.  (I'm not that keen to spend £15 plus drinks on a toddler size portion)

We are going out for Roast Sunday lunch this Sunday as a family just because I changed up the penny pot and it came to enough for a treat, and my Husband and I go out for dinner every Thursday for a date anyway.

I can't see myself stopping going out for dinner/lunch after my op, it's a big part of our social lives to eat out as a family and with friends.  Even on the liquid and puree phase I will be able to eat soup and after that I plan to have a starter instead of a main course or just pinch food from my husbands plate ha ha.

I do have the urge to eat treacle sponge pudding and jam roly poly before the op though.

It may be the last time for favorite foods for a while, but about 6 months after my RNY, I could eat most anything, just not very much of it. I had the same thoughts before surgery, I would not be eating this ever again. WRONG! But I have found there are many foods I no longer care to eat very much of. I have always been a big meat eater, and I now that is how I get most of my protein. I am lucky, about the only thing I dump on is ice cream. I can have a few bites, but then I remember what dumping feels like and it's easy to stop.

I gained5 pounds during my "diet and exercise program phase".  I ate without abandon.  Five Guys is my WEAKNESS (amoung other things) and I would get it at least 2-3 times a week during that time.  I'm actually surprised I didn't gain more weight.  BUT....because of those 5 pounds, my surgeon made me do two weeks of Opi-fast.  It wasn't too bad, I lost 20pounds but looking back on things....if I had to do it over again...I would have tried to adopt better eatting habits that are going to help me post-op.  I still find that I eat much too fast (if that's even possible during the pureed/soft phase).
