I think lots of people feel that way.

Good food is absolutely not coming to an end, though.  I promise.

Today I had a chocolate chip granola protein bar for breakfast, popcorn at the movies for lunch (yeah, I did, and I ate too much of it, but it was good), broccoli cheddar soup after the movie, spaghetti with veggie Italian sausge for dinner (I ate mostly sauce and sausage with parmesan cheese on top, only a little noodles), and now I am enjoying a caramel protein latte.  I realize those may not be your favorite foods, but does it sound like I have said goodbye to good food forever?

OK.  Now go check out bariatricfoodie.com and theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com.  Anything there look good?

I spent the month before surgery eating every thing I could get my hands on that I loved using the excuse that I can never have it again.  Looking back, it was super stupid.  Should have tried to eat better and break my habits BEFORE surgery.

Oh well, Live and learn.

There wasn one particular favorite dessert I kept obsessing about before surgery.  I wanted to buy it and have the WHOLE THING, cuz I knew I'd never have it again.  Well,  never did get it and I don't regret it a bit.  I almost never think of it now and when I did I remember how much I liked the taste, but I have no craving.

So, if you resist (the wisest choice) don't feel like you'll regret it for the rest of your life.  I don't think you will.

I spent the weekend or week before eating stuff I wanted too. Thinking it was going to be a long time before I was going to be able to eat them again. My surgeon is fairly strict. 3 weeks shakes, then 3 weeks pureed foods.  I am not handling the shakes well and have tried pureed foods already.  I am 2 weeks out. going on my 3 rd week. so one more week of all shakes.. but seriously i cant even handle 1 shake a day.  sometimes they make me want to vomit.

My final presurgery doctors visit was 4 days after Thanksgiving. I ate everything I wanted that week-end plus some. I gained 5 pounds!  because of that my doctor made me go on Protein Liquid Diet for a week. Vanilla mixed with water. Thats it. To this day I can't stomach any thing vanilla

Once I was approved for GBS, I ate BIG TIME! Yes, I also gained some weight in the months prior to surgery.  I knew I would be losing the weight anyway!  LOL!!!

While I ate some of my favorite foods but didn't allow myself to go overboard.  I stopped soda, and I began doing sugar free popsicles instead of regular desserts which helped me lose a few pounds.  Frankly, I was afraid to gain more weight--Dr. Suh said "do not gain any weight before surgery."

I've become so paranoid, I won't feel secure about getting my surgery until I am prepped for surgery and being wheeled into the operating room.    And I've even had a couple of nightmares about being on the table and the surgeon finding something inside that will make him close me up with out doing the bypass.  LOL  I told you I was paranoid.

On reflection, though, my paranoia has probably helped me get begin to control & change my eating habits.  Damn I feel virtuous...

Omg Susan, I'm the same way!  I had LapBand surgery 8 years ago and lost a large portion of weight...then, two years ago my band eroded and I nearly died.  I was in ICU for 22 days.  Of course, I put the weight back on, plus 10 for good measure and I'm off to have Gastric Bypass in the morning.  Im really hungry at the moment after spending most of the day pooping to clear our my colon.  I'm eyeing some low fat, low salt, Gluten free soup.  Not sure if I should or not!

I had to wait 3 months for my first WLS after I got the date and I ate my way through the town.  I went on a farewell to food tour that included every restaurant and fast food place I could find.  I think I gained 10+ lbs in that time.  And ironically I never did say good bye to any of that food.
This last time I had 4 days from surgery date to surgery and I was so sick I didn't even feel like eating.  My daughter talked me into going out to dinner the night before my surgery (I could eat until midnight that night) and I had prime rib, which I have had many times since my surgery.  I lost 2 lbs that week before my surgery.
Do I regret not eating  more during that time?  Not really.  I had my fill of those things and I don't miss them at all.  I think I was just ready to make a change.
