Im confused - calling surgeon in the a.m. but want suggestions
Okay, I'm 13 months out from RNY with silastic banding. Lost 250 lbs so far - on maintenance and getting things together to send off for plastics approval through insurance.
The problem: Pain/bloating feeling in my pelvic region, lower back pain. It really feels like I am on my cycle and have taken midol to numb the pain..but I finished my cycle a week ago now. Thought it was a UTI but I'm urinating just fine. I have been running a fever off and on of 101/102 which dayquil takes care of. This has been going on for about a week. Just went #2..everything is 'normal' except I had pain when using the muscles to 'go'...TMI I know but I think it's info that is pertinant lol. I'm still calling my surgeon no matter what anyone says but ....any ideas? Is there a flu going around? Are these symptoms of certain uh--oh's for RNYers?

Sounds like calling a doctor is a good idea. What makes you think it's RNY related, though? Why are you calling your surgeon instead of your PCP? I'm not sure what the problem might be but I would guess something like UTI or some sort of infection in that area.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I usually check with my surgeon first since it's hard to get in to see my primary - my surgeon can get me in to see my primary faster than I can - the call center SUCKS to say the least but my primary doc is wonderful. I'll be calling both - I just want to make sure that it's NOT RNY related before I go to my primary, he's not all that familiar with rny aftercare and my surgeon has been taking care of me since my surgery. Just now starting to get things switched over to my primary and he flat out told me that he will do it but he needs contact info for my surgeon and he will need permission to get my files from my surgeon so he can figure out where we are and if anything needs treating. Don't know if that all came out right but basically he doesnt want to take any chances so he will be double checking with my surgeon for the first couple months to make sure he knows whats going on and the 'normal' course of action for RNY patients.

Midol does have NSAIDS but there's a certain one that has tylenol instead of NSAID.. I always check the ingredients of things before I buy them. The one I have is midol PM it's just tylenol and benadryl basically or rather the ingredients of them.
