Random Poll o' the Week: Remember when...
I remember when gas was 25 cents a gallon, when there were 3 channels on TV, 75rpm records with the adapter you put in the middle, and there was a party line on our telephone.
I am getting old!
I am getting old!
"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly." Richard Bach
"Support fosters your growth. If you are getting enough of the right support, you will experience a major transformation in yourself. You will discover a sense of empowerment and peace you have never before experienced. You will come to believe you can overcome your challenges and find some joy in this world." Katie Jay
Remember back in the day when there were no bank machines? You had to actually go into the bank (or through the drive thru if your bank had one) and talk to a teller to get cash or transact any business.
Remember the day when 7-11 was called that because they opened at 7am and closed at 11pm and they were the only store that was open those hours?
Remember the day when the 3 or 4 (3 national + one local) TV stations stopped their programming around midnight and just showed a flag waving and played the star spangled banner until their programming began again the next morning?
Remember the day when you had to actually lock/unlock your car door with a key and there was not even any cruise control?
Remember gas lines?
Remember going to the drive in with friends and hiding at least 2 people in the trun****il you got in?
Remember the day when what we now see in movies rated 'R' would have easily been rated 'X'? (I freely admit to being a prude)
Remember the day when soda was a huge treat, as were all fast foods? And speaking of fast foods, your only choices were pretty much MacDonalds, Burger King and sometimes Jack in the Box. And remember the day when fast food places would not take credit cards?
Remember the day when the cashier at the grocery store had to key in the price of each of your items because there were no bar codes?
Remember when your choices of ice cream were basically chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. And then remember how excited we were when Baskin Robbins came along?
Remember when you actually sent letters? And Christmas Cards?
Remember learning to type on an actual typewriter? With a carriage return and no automatic centering? And you had to use white strips or white out to erase any mistakes?
Remember when most adults smoked and one of the most popular candies for kids were those packages of candy cigarettes? We thought we were so cool....
Remember 8-track tape players and 8-track tapes?
Remember when the Avon lady used to go door to door?
Remember the day when nobody knew enough to care about eating too much butter or salt or basically anything regarding food. We just ate what was put in front of us, or whatever our Mom's could afford.
Remember when frozen dinners were called "TV dinners" and were baked for 1/2 hour in the oven, then eaten on TV trays while watching TV with the fam?
Wowza Nik. You've got me on a roll. I must be feeling nostalgic...
