Water Hurts
I am 3 weeks out as of yesterday and have had zero problems. But now one is developing. Originally I could only drin**** cold water because room temp made me feel nauseous, but now ice cold, chilled, room temp or warm - all water hurts. Not up around where my pouch is,,, like where I felt pain when I swallowed a piece of banana that wasn't chewed well... but in my lower abdomen. It really causes me trouble getting fluids in because I don't want to hurt.
I have tried adding crystal light, Special K to no avail. My protein drinks are uncomfortable, but not painful. Eating (pureeds until tomorrow) doesn't bother me at all.

Call your doc in the morning. Until then, try eating some sugar free jello or sugar free popsicles and drink extra protein drinks so you don't get dehydrated.

For me it was that i was taking in too much air. I had to switch to using a straw. I still use a straw on most days becuase its easier for me. I know that most people say that using a straw makes you take in more air, but for me it was the opposite. You may want to try that...and of coure call you doctor : )
thanks. I tried a straw with my protein shake and it didn't change anything.
I'll call in the morning. When it was just the water I dissolved my calcium in I thought it was the calcium, but now it is all liquids to some extent. In fact I just ate some greek yogurt with SF jelly and it was very uncomfortable.
I just hate to call if it is nothing, but I guess I would hate even more to not call and it be an issue.

I have this same problem and was told by my doc that it's pretty common. It should resolve eventually but I don't know when exactly. I've had the same issue for 3 weeks. I try to go slowly with drinking which does seem to help but sometimes it doesn't matter. Personally, it's more about temp than flavor so sometimes heat is better and sometimes tepid is better. I have found that it's almost like a shock to my system but once I get over it I can start drinking more in about 10-15 minutes. Just keep trying to find out what works for you. Good luck!
