still no sign of necrosis but lots of swelling and pain

I haven't been on the computer much (I have 200+ messages in my primary e-mail mailbox), and probably won't be for another couple of days, because I'm still having a lot of pain from the surgery.  (Thanks to those who sent PMs here to check on me.)  My belly is sill very swollen (which the PA told me to expect because the surgeon moved EVERYTHING around to be sure she didn;t miss something else that might be causing the pain), but today is day 4 and there is still no sign of any necrosis, so I think I'm out of the woods on that.

Lora, so sorry you are still feeling bad, but glad your doc found the problem and was able to fix it. Also glad to hear that there is no necrosis. I hope the swelling goes down soon and that you start to feel better. Take care.

I am so glad that there is no sign of necrosis -that is great.  The swelling takes time.  When I had my last surgery - reversal of the illiostomy, I was in the  hospital for 8 days.  When I was released, my lower abdomen was still very swollen - almost looked like I was 4 months pregnant.  It took a couple of weeks.  As far as the pain goes, I hope that gets better soon.  If you are still in alot of pain by Tuesday, please call and ask for something stronger.  You should atleast be able to get some Percocet 7.5mg or 10mg.  Vicoden is fine for a lap, RNY but an open procedure needs stronger stuff.

Good luck and hope the weekend goes better.  It took me a while before I could come back to the computer.

Lora--
I'm glad to hear the doctor corrected your problem-- but as I have not been on the boards much this week-- I missed hearing what the surgeon finally found. Can someone fill me in please?

Heal quickly!
