So tonight was the back to school picnic for my kids school. We went in and talked to all the new and old teachers that we know. Well My son walks up to his old English teacher from last yr and she says how sorry she is to see that dad is with someone new. Then asks him my name...he says ummm MOM? I had walked up on the convo and started to laugh. She had no idea that I was me. 
I was told I was beautiful and so so pretty and that I looked fantastic...tonight was a great ego boost I tell ya.

THAT is too funny! WOW! How did she feel after she realized she made that mistake, a good mistake, but I think as a teacher I might have been embarrassed a bit. Poor thing, hope she knew how happy that comment made you feel.

It's kind of funny...
But it kind of bothers me that a teacher would tell a kid she was sorry to see his dad is with someone new. If you were indeed the new girlfriend or stepmom or whatever, that teacher obviously didn't know anything about your family. Maybe the kid thought the new stepmom was a lot better than his old mom. Or maybe the kid was having a really hard time adjusting to the new stepmom and her comment didn't make it easier but actually reinforced the idea that the new stepmom wasn't so good. It just seems like an inappropriate thing to say.
