What to take to work?? Nervous!!
I haven't had a job since the surgery. Well I had one but I was eating maybe 200 calories a day. But I am so nervous because I will be gone for 9 hours a day (more if you count the commute). I am working in a bathing suit boutique store so I have no idea if there will be a fridge or a microwave in the back. If there is then it will be a lot easier to bring food and salad and lean cuisines and stuff like that. But if there isn't than I am in trouble!! I need to eat every three hours or I get woozy. I am going to bring nuts and beef jerky but I am working at a mall so how am I going to constantly be drinking water? I am going to get a lunch box so I can bring somewhat insulated things but I need ideas!!! What will hold up in a lunch box all day and what other snacky things that I can eat quick can I take?? Any suggestions would be appreciated! I start on Monday!
If they don't have a fridge could you get a small cooler to carry into work? One that is the size of a six pack would allow you to bring some protein shakes and other items like yogurt. When I was working in a clothing store we kep****er bottles under the counter or in the back to sip on when we didn't have a customer.
If you put a little ice pack in your lunch box, you can take stuff like yogurt and string cheese. I once had a job where I had no fridge but did have a microwave and I would take frozen dinners with me. If they were frozen solid when I left my house, they'd be thawed some by lunch time but they were left out long enough for the food to spoil. They just did not need heated for quite as long in the microwave.
You can take tuna or egg salad with an ice pack. Protein bars. Ready to drink protein shakes. Fruit.
You'll probably be able to keep a water bottle by the cash register where you can get to it easily. Just take a bottle with a lid because they might worry about an open glass getting spilled.

I take my lunch to work with me everyday. I have been doing it since before I had surgery. I have a good size lunch bag that is insulated and I used ice packs. We do have a fridge but I don't use it. I take with me yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese strings, protein shakes, fruit, what ever main meal I make with chicken and veggies. I have to pack for 12 hours. I just try to bring whatever I can think of that is high in protein. Good luck with the new job. I love the new hair cut. I didn't recognize you at first. You look awesome.
I don't use the fridge at work. I just keep ice packs in a little insulated lunch bag with greek yogurt/ NSA Preserves, a little container of protein shake powder and a little container or 2 of my "meal" (still on pureed so usually veggie and a meat). I put a 32oz water bottle that is about 3/4 empty in the freezer at night then fill it from the fridge in the morning - so it stays cold most of my shift. So with the 8oz of the protein drink I get 40oz at work.
