questions about soy milk
I've never tried baking with it - I stay away from baking as it just makes me want to eat more.
I do still use unflavored greek yogurt. I agree with you about cows (and other livestock) treatment, use of hormones, processing, etc. I do get grass fed beef, chicken and eggs. I'm trying to find a source for raw butter, but so far no luck.
Sometimes I just have to do the best I can when I can. I try to eat raw, fresh, unprocessed. I do eat cheese - mostly Sargento Provolone slices and Baby bel. I also eat cottage cheese. I'm not a farmer and don't have access to "pure" sources without hormones, pesticides, corn fed, etc.
I've been going to a food co-op and finding some choices there.
Best wishes.
So far I have been unable to find a place near me to purchase raw milk but when I see the farmer to get the eggs (and to take a tour of the farm) I will ask him if he knows of anywhere I could get milk. It's my understanding that some people that sell raw milk don't advertise it because governmental agencies sometimes frown upon it.

We also live with Amish near us and we sometimes get chicken & eggs from them, local. Our food co-op (30 minutes away) sells organic eggs, also local, from chickens that are allowed "freedom". I used to use Eggland eggs, but the yolks of the free range chickens is such a deep yellow and has a better taste.
I eat a boiled egg almost every day in my salad at noon.
After I watched the DVD, "Food, Inc." I just couldn't tolerate the inhumane treatment, drugs & unsanitary conditions that mass chicken farms use. It made me nauseaous.
If I knew everything that is done to "distort" food from it's natural state, I'd probably be dumbfounded!
I was looking at soy yogurt in the store today and now I've already forgotten what brand it was but they only had two flavors and I was going to get one to try but it has 150 calories and 21 grams of sugar in six ounces! I am used to eating carbmaster with 60 calories and 3 grams of sugar. That's just not going to work for me.
I did however find cappucino flavored soy milk at the store! I can't wait to try that. I'm thinking that could be really good in a protein shake.

The dairy cows are typically not treated much better than the veal callves. It's much worse than I'm sure most people imagine. It's much worse than I imagined. And the egg issue... seeing these chickens would seriously make you cry.
