Anyone here told they need 5000 mg calcium?

Sorry for the double post, but I also didn't realize that calcium was constipating.  That would explain a lot.  Sooo.. double YAY for being able to poop!

Are you sure the ones you are taking are 630 mg PER PILL, not PER SERVING?  And is a serving one pill or two pills?

HAHA!  Thank you, Kelly.  It's a serving of 2 pills.  *sigh*  Guess I'm not dropping those two pills afterall.

Oh, you're not dumb!  It's dumb for them to label it that way.  Everyone, or almost everyone anyway, would assume that one pill was one serving.

Maybe they are thinking of Vitamin D?

Nope, calcium citrate.

No however I do know a few people that take that much because their labs dictate they need more.

I take 2500 mg a day.

Yeah.  That's different, though.  We should all take whatever our labs show we need.

I take 2000 a day and my labs have been looking good.  Honestly...I don't remember what my dr. had said..I think it was 1500-2000 and I went with 2000 to be sure.  I agree with some of the other posters...it would be horrible to try and get it all in..spreading it out throughout the day, separating it from the iron, wow!

Maybe I'm being too cynical but I wonder if whoever recommended 5000mg was getting any kickbacks from any companies? Like BA or Bayer? Just seems odd to make a blanket recommendation, not representative of an individual's needs or ASMBS recommendations.
