a Protien observation

Now that I am almost 2 months out and can have pretty much all protein except beef and pork, I have noticed something. It is really hard to get down some of these meats!! I have done the cutting small, chewing a lot and taking a long time. But even so, I find I am still getting most of my protein from easier food-cheeses, yogurt and shakes. In fact, it has gotten to where I get 70 grams from these foods and whatever meat I eat is just extra. is this something people a long time out still do, or will eventually, I be able to get more protein out of meat? I find I can tolerate may 1 oz if that--usually just a few bites. Teeny tiny bites, lol! I just can not eat even 2-3 oz of chicken or even my favorite, fish.

I still have 1 protein drink a day but yes, I get most of my protein from food these days.  The protein drink is like insurance.

I am 4 months out.  Chicken gave me problems until recently.  I still have to be careful when I eat it.

I'm 3 months out and have no problem eating any kind of meat now. I avoid anything dry. I get the Hormel chicken breast meat - comes in large thick slices near the lunch meats but I think it is for salads. That is very moist. But last weekend I even had a hamburger and had no problems. I bet you'll be able to get some emats down later if you wnat them. But don't sweat gettng your protein from those other sources right now. You are doing good to get it all in.

p.s. I still have protein in a coffee drink everyday - decaf coffee of course, with SF hazelnut syrup and benefiber.

I can eat all beef fine, still can not eat chicken, sometimes a little dark meat, but never ever white meat, it hurts to bad to chance it. Pork is still iffy, depending on how it's cooked. I still use a shake a day and occasionally eat a protein bar for lunch.

I'm three months out and I have tried everything but pork and steak. Chicken gives me trouble sometimes, but a lot less now than it did a month ago!

Give your tummy some time. I had a hard time with different meats until now. I can eat most protein. Still have trouble with ham, sometimes eggs are not my friend. It is still a day by day basis and how it is cooked.
I also do a protein drink. I like mine for breakfast, but otherwise want to eat real food to get in my protein.

For my first 4 months I was so nauseated I had fillet of sole and a couple of shrimps pretty much every night for supper, supplemented the rest of the day by protein shakes (gag) and Greek yogurt.

Now I can eat any meat, poultry, or fish. Scrambled eggs, too, and I can tolerate the protein shakes. I'm really liking Power Pak protein pudding- 30 gr of protein and 190 calories.

It will get easier!

Shrimp is a perfect choice.  I too had a lot of that the first few months and need to get back there.  I also LOVE chili (ground beef - Potbelly) or turkey chili (Trader Joe's had a really good canned version that I just had for lunch - 1/2 a can.)

At 5 months, I have tried pork and if there is no fat - I'm ok but I try not to have it often.  Chicken and fish are great and of course ground beef is fine.  I did have a bite of steak that someone gave me and that was a very bad decision.  Not ready for that.

Cheese is good but kept to the low-fat.  I have a problem with that myself - I love Brie and its hard to find a low-fat version of that.  Don't forget turkey jerky.

You will figure out that at every stage you can change things up.  Thanks for the reminder on the shrimp.
