I am not getting enough protein I think that is why I am losing sooooo sssssllllloooowwwww!!! I really don't like protein drinks. I haven't tried Muscle Milk but I was concerned that they were not the proper type of protein!  I want to add a shake or 2 to my schedule but I just can't stomach them. I can do CIB and SlimFast shakes but I don't know it the SlimFast High Protein is right either! AHHHH!!!   I am going insane please give me ideas for getting more protein!!!

I have heard to add some unflavored to different things your taking in...like crystal light or in pudding or I guess any other form of food might work too.
I am still waiting for approval, so I haven't tried it.

I don't do any shakes....have not for months. Chicken and shrimp are high in protein...as well as jerky. Perhaps you could try adding more protein rich foods...if your plan allows.

Have you tried Nectar or Matrix protein drinks?     In my opinion - they don't have the protein drink taste.

Yes I have tried the Nectar and Matrix. I don't like them. I am eating chicken and turkey I don't like seafood! I am kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Which is why I am thinking of adding a shake or two! :(

Atkins are on my Nutritionist list and they worked the best for me. If too thick add some milk or water. I liked them best when I added a little water and ice cubes. Tasted like flavored milk when I thinned them down some.  And I was told not to use a straw, but, that was the best way I could make sure I got them down.

I also buy a protein powder by Jay Robb Whey Protein  from Kroger. I find it is better than most over the counter brands. I add it to my decaf coffee, pudding, and anything I can stand it in.

You just have to be creative to get yours in........................ Good Luck!   sharon

How many shakes have you tried and how did you try making them?  I swear they do not all taste the same, so just because you can't stomach some, that really doesn't mean you can't stomach all of them.

Here's what to do.  First, go to your local Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and look at the ready to drink protein drinks.  The ones already in bottles, not powders.  Look for one that has about 20-30 grams of protein and no more than a few grams of sugar.  Buy one of each one you see that looks like it might taste good.  If you like strawberry flavor, buy the strawberry flavor of three different brands.  Buy more than one flavor of the same brand if they both look good, and even if you don't like one of the flavors, try the other.  You might love the strawberry but hate the chocolate of the same brand.  While you're there, specifically look for Isopure and Cytosport ready to drink bottles.  They sort of resemble Gatorade.

Then go to vitalady.com and look at all the samples.  Pick out a whole bunch to try.  And try making them different ways.  I prefer my shakes, most of them anyway, made with skim milk but you might like them better with water.  I like mine in the blender with a handful of ice but you might like them best in a shaker bottle.  You can add other stuff to them besides just the powder and milk, too.  Maybe you'd like them better with half a banana blended up with them or with a teaspoon of instant decaf coffee.  Try hot protein drinks, too.

If you don't like the smell, drink them from a cup with a lid.

Oh yeah, I forgot about unflavored protein powder.  Get some and every morning measure out one scoop into a little dish.  Put the dish on your kitchen counter.  Every time you get something to eat that you can mix protein powder into, mix a little bit in.  Think stuff like yogurt, pudding, soup, chili, applesauce, ricotta cheese, oatmeal, whatever.  Do NOT put the whole scoop in one serving of food.  Just put a little in everything you can.  By the end of the day you'll have another 20 grams or so of protein, and if you only use a little bit at a time, it won't really change the taste or texture of whatever you're eating.

Your surgery was a week or more after mine (5/2/11) and I have lost 58 lbs and I think I am doing great!  Why do you think 74 lbs in 4 months is slow?  Really?  That is nearly 100lbs!

How fast do you want it to come off?  After the first 3 months it slows down and then it will slow again after 6 months.  It can take, and usually does, as long as 18 months to reach goal.
