Why does the scale DO THAT?!?!
I know I shouldn't obsess about numbers but I hate after I know I had a good day the scale will go up two lbs or something. And then everytime I step on the scale it will go up or down a couple oz. Is my scale just a piece of **** or am I retaining water? I'm pretty sure I didn't gain two lbs overnight for no reason. I hate my scale.

Actually, unless the scale is faulty (i.e. broken), then it is only a measuring device. It is not the device that changes, it is our bodies. Our bodies are wonderful and complex. If you are up two pounds then your body has decided to hang onto something. The good news is usually it lets it go at a certain time of it's own choosing.
Therefore, put the scale away. Break up with it, and maybe you can get back together another day or perhaps it needs to be a permanent divorce. It cannot mess with your head like it is currently doing.
Remember that the 2 lbs. will come off, and probably quite easily, along with a few other lbs.

Mine does the xact same thing, and yes I am just as bad as you are about getting on the darn thing. I have tried to break up with it, and have been unable to.
BTW, how did you manage to get the century club card? I went to the page the other day, but did not know how to get it on my page. Congrats on 100lbs down by the way. I have joined just this last week!!!

My scale does the exact same thing! I too think I am retaining fluid. It is not possible to gain 2 lbs overnight but sometimes my scale will say I did! It is so frustrating. I don't get TOM anymore (early menopause) so I don't know why I still retain so much fluid. I know I do too cuz I can press on my leg and it will leave a white impression where my finger was. I also know that if I weigh myself after a BM I usually will have lost something, sometimes only a few ounces but sometimes a whole pound! It's not like I am sh***ing a brick or anything... weird! LOL
F@#$ those scales! Don't let them ruin your good day. You know you did good, you know you ate well. Really truly try to get rid of that instrument of the devil as the previous poster pointed out. You probably spent a good deal of the time you were overweight knowing that the scale was not your friend. it is the same thing now.
Try to find something else to measure your progress by. You are allowed to give up the angst over a pound here and there. You've accomplished sooooo much! You should be proud of yourself. I'm proud of you and I don't even know you. Give yourself some freedom from that damn scale!
If you know you have a slightly obsessive personality and that your self image can be harmed by that scale find something else to obsess about. Obsess on your progress not on those few pounds. You deserve it. Really.
Not that I have strong opinions about it or anything. lol

I won't tell you to stay off the scale... i'd be POT.KETTLE.BLACK. I will tell you to not be crazy about it.. easier said than done.
I had RNY about 2 years ago (9/22/09) and until I got to a weight I considered goal I was nuts about it.
I have a spread sheet... I weigh EVERY morning, after teeth brushing and potty and before my shower... I then RECORD said weight on my daily spreadsheet. I also record my weight on a weekly spreadsheet on Tuesdays (the morning I had surgery was a Tuesday)... I record it MONTHLY on the first of the MONTH and then again on the monthly anniversary of my surgery....
I also have a tab in this spreadsheet for recording LOSS only...
I sound obessessive but I have learned that treating this number like nothing more than a point of data works FOR ME...
That being said... I was insane when it went up... even if it went up .8 pounds... I got a new scale. I put new batteries in said scale. insanity...
then i got to MY FIRST goal... 199 (still high but it was a fluid goal and I figuerd I might lose a bit more) anything after that was gravy
Then I got to what was in my mind what I would weigh for life 189 and I said ok my goal is to stay UNDER 190.... as long as the scale did not go over 189.8 I was happy....169 (at 5'2" this was still high but it was what my doctor said I should weigh) and I kept at 10 pound increments... and guess what.. i stopped caring and it kept creeping down...
now I hold it between 135 and 140 and my goal is to hold it between 130 and 135 but I doubt that will happen till my next round of plastics.
BTW it's water... it takes 3500 calories to create ONE POUND you are not eating anywhere NEAR that... and a gallon of water weighs EIGHT pounds... our bodies fluctuate hourly.... 2 pounds for me... thats a session on the potty...
drink more water to help flush the water out... makes no sense but it's what your body usually wants

Stay off the scale for a while. Seriously. Just stay off it. Put it away somewhere that's very inconvenient to get to it.
