Plastics then having a baby? (a ramble)

Okay, so I just had my first child in June. Still not 100% sold on having another one because she is super easy and a good baby. I mean, what are the chances I'd get another like that?  But, I know in relaity Hubby and I will probably want one more. I'm 22 and have never gotten to enjoy being young and thin because I've been overweight my whole life. I desperetly want to though. I just don't know how totally stupid having a tummy tuck before I'm done having kids would be.

I obviously have about 13 more pounds I'd like to lose, and then of course I'm sure I'd be asked to show I can maintain that for 6 months before I'd be able to have surgery. Which works out nicely because I could wait until my daughter was around 1 and mobile before having it done. Only thing is, if we do have another child we'd like to have them within about 3 years of eachother. I dunno. I'm not even sure if I'm asking a question here or if I'm just trying to get my thoughts out of my head and 'on paper' to mull it over. lol

Thanks for reading my ramble. lol Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would be 100% done with having kids before plastics. Having my three kids messed up my tummy WAY more than gaining "regular" weight ever did. Plus, you can mess up some types of plastics for good with just a 20-25 lb weight gain after the fact. I wouldn't put that kind of money into it then have to redo it.

Here is a post from Dr. LoMonaco on that topic. He is an expert in plastic surgery after massive weight loss. He was my plastic surgeon and I think he is the best:

I'm at Fort Campbell too! I agree with Scarlett though. I would wait until you are done have kids then go for the plastics. That's just my thought. I think if you check out the plastics board they may have some info for you.

I'm from Ft C too. How are the plastics part of this handled with Tricare?

As far as I know Tricare doesn't cover plastics. They will do a panni if you have documented proof that it's hindering you ie:sores, constant rashes and back problems and so forth.

Yep. It will all have to be self pay. I doubt Tricare will cover a panni for me because mine is not bad and causes no problems. :(

can you have a panni removal now and a tummy tuck later?

btw you will NOT be able to lift the baby at all for a few weeks after the tummy tuck you will need full time help.... just saying

Any reputable plastic surgeon will tell you that need to be done having children before they will do any tummy tuck on you.  It makes sense as getting pregnant will just undo any work they just did.  In a tummy tuck, not only do they remove your excess skin but they tighten your muscles which your new baby will only stretch out again.  It will be money wasted and then you will only want to do it again.

Like the other poster said, make sure after your tummy tuck that you have alot of help since you won't be able to lift anything especially 1 baby and hopefully 1 baby/1 toddler by then.

I wish you the best.  You have been through a lot at a very young age. Keep on plugging.  Congratulations on the weight loss and having such a beautiful baby.
