OT: haircut, why am I so chicken?!

Okay, so I've had an a-line cut before, SO easy to take care of for me and so much cooler in the summer.  My hair is refusing to grow past my shoulders and I want it cut. Fiance loves it when I change hair styles and colors ..LOL says it's like dating a new woman every time I change...odd, I know.  Anywhoo... I've had a-line cuts at 400+ lbs ...so why am I so worried about getting one now at 180?! I keep wondering if it will make my face look too fat... really? I know better but my brain keeps popping up that question.  Pops up again when I think about going back to dark hair...."the dark against your pale skin will just make your round face stand out"....

How do I tell my brain to shut the *bleep* up so I don't feel bad about cutting and dying my hair?!

I empathize with you...... I think we use our hair as a "security blanket".  I got my hair cut short a week and a half ago, and I'm SO glad I did!  But I was terrified to cut it and had all sorts of negative thoughts going through my head:  "I'm going to look ugly".... "I'm going to look old"......."My wrinkles will show more"...... blah blah blah.  All of my bad thoughts were WRONG.  I LVOE my new hair and I've gotten so many compliments, even from  hubby!

So I say GO FOR IT!!!

I'm just gonna have to close my eyes, grit my teeth and do it lol. I've had short hair for a while now so I have no idea why I'm thinking all these things...I consulted my fiance about the type of cut I want and he said I couldn't get an ugly or "un-cute" cut..lol but i think he's a little buyist =P

I've already cut my bangs...I don't trust salons with my bangs, out of about 15 times i've let them cut them I've never been happy with it..so I do my own bangs LOL.

I'm leaving the front a little longer and only layered about the last 2''  at the bottom but from ears back I'm getting LOTS of layers ...very short on top...but not to where it looks like a mullet...lol there's a fine line between mullet and a "shag" haircut...great thing is if it looks like a mullet I'll have my ma chop it off even at the nape so it's a layered bob ^_^

I just want something different and the way I have cut my bangs and the "in front of the ears" line  ...if I tell em to leave that alone and layer the back...it should look pretty darn cute with the coloring in it...I have ranges from dark brown to light blonde..lol should be interesting!

I wish we could all cut out those doubting little voices.  Just remember that you may have a rounder facial structure (a good thing!!!), but it can't be as puffy as it was at 400 lbs.  180 will look great!

I'm thinking about cutting my hair as well.  I had short hair for years... and finally grew it out.  But with the CPAP and the weightloss, I have a bad hair day everyday.  I just can't get over the hump to do what I should!

I'm also dying (literally) for a change.  I'm going RED with BLONDE highlites.  I've had the same haircut (or variation thereof) for 10 years.  I just think it looks the best on my new "skinny" face.

I am perfectly content being perfectly UN-perfect

Go for the new cut and do what you love!  Hey, my hair fell out badly and
finally came out in chunks.....not a good look at all.  I would have loved to
get a new cut that didn't involve a crew cut, but I sucked it up and went and
bought some new hair.  Best thing I ever did!  I get lots of compliments on
my "hair" (well, it IS mine...bought and paid for!) and I get to toss on my hair
and have great hair in minutes every day. It's a short do much like I would
normally wear my hair...it's just waaaay better.

So, get that new cut, color it and rock it!  You'll look fabulous.

I can empathize - after my already-fine-hair started thinning majorly and Nioxin isn't instant results, I chopped my hair off yesterday! I went for a bob with longer layers, as I do have a roundish face. It looks great! But was quite anxiety provoking.... I kept telling myself, I can grow it back someday.

I'm cutting and coloring mine on Monday.  SHORT, I like short my ex always preferred mid-to-long and I want easy too.  My color is naturally dark with lots of gray and I've colored from very blonde to my natural dark brunette.  As I get older I find the brown spectrum looks best on me.

I was just searching for pictures of what I want, something along the lines of Victoria Beckham  or Wynona Rider pixie just not sure of the bangs/fringe on my forehead, whether I want it longer-ish or short.

Go for it, hair grows back that's the plus about being daring and trying different styles.

I've been struggling with this for a long time.  I have never in my life had long hair and I have always wanted it long but for various reasons I had to keep it short.  I got it cut about 1 1/2 years ago and now has really gotten long.  When I talk about it to my boyfriend he just says don't cut it too short.  How short is too short?  I would love a really short cut.  Easy to take care of but my hair is so thin.  If it wasn't so permanent I would have cut it short a long time ago.  Yesterday I took my daughter for a haircut and I toyed with cutting mine, too, but she wouldn't let me lol.
I am just afraid that if I get my haircut I will never grow it out again.  Truthfully, I am way too old for long hair.  If I had it this long 20 years ago it would be great but now I feel like I am trying to look younger.  Which I guess we all are.  The funny thing is I hate the feel of my hair on my back and face and I almost always wear it in a ponytail or tied up.  Life would be so much easier if I cut it off but I can't get past the fear.
I hope you go for it.  I am sure it will look great on you.  I think short hair looks very sexy.  I just wish I had the guts to cut mine.
