Why taking measurements are important...
I'm almost 5 weeks out of surgery and haven't seen my scale move since my week two weigh in. Yes, it was frustrating and maybe a little disappointing but very expected. After all, just had major surgery and my body clearly needs to heal and all of that good stuff before the scale sees any more action.
So with that said, I decided to take my 4 week measurements and I wasn't expecting a lot... I knew I had lost some inches since a pair of jeans I had bought prior to surgery but didn't fit all of a sudden were fitting perfectly...... no way in a million years did I expect 14.5 inches to be banished from my body!!!!!!!!!!!
Wooooo Hoooooooo So even though I've "only" lost 19lbs since surgery....... I am more then happy with that and with teh 14.5 inch loss. Heck yeah!!! I'll take it! :)
So.... if you're pre-op... don't forget to take your measurements prior to surgery and when you start into a stall and you're feeling down.... take them again.... you never know.... might be losing inches!

Ginger,
Congratulations!! I suggest that people take their measurements once a month and also take photos: front, back and profile in front of a doorway. It will help you 'see' the changes.
Keep up the good work,

I've been putting off taking measurements, as I just don't want to see those numbers. But now that my weight has plateaued for over a week, I'm starting to see the value. While it won't help me now, I'm sure it will help overcome future plateaus.
Congrats to you for losing so many inches in just 4 weeks!
