On her site, there are links to what your levels should be. That should help and maybe Poet kelly or some of the vit. gurus can help with the rest.

I was checking into getting a bone density scan, but I guess I'm going to have to call the insurance company and see if there is any way I can get it covered because I'm only 39 (ONLY! ha ha) and I don't think it is covered until I'm 65.
But, I am post-menopausal for 5 years now due to complete hysterectomy, and I'm not on hormone replacement, so I really do think getting a bone scan would be a good idea. Maybe my GYN can help me get that covered?
Thanks again,
Dot
Looking at what you currently have here, yes B-6 is high, back off on it some if you are taking it individually, if you are taking a Bcomplex, how often?
B-12 is fine, don't stop what you are doing, possibly add 500 mcg per day until next labs. Over 1000 is a good place to be.
Your PTH HIGH and Vitamin D LOW means your body is robbing calcium from your bones, you need to add DRY Vitamin D (I suggest 50000 iu per day and test in 3 months) and UP your calcium citrate - how much are you currently taking daily.

I added the ranges in parenthesis behind my levels. Also added TIBC numbers on here.

Morning - Dry D3 50,000 iu along with UpCal D (500 mg calcium citrate)
mid morning - BA multivitamin chewable along with Biotin (can't remember mg and it is in my desk drawer at work)
later morning - 2nd packet UpCal D along with BA sublingual B12 dissolved under tongue
Lunch
early afternoon - 2nd BA chewable multi-vitamin
later afternoon - two BA chewy calcium
Before bed - Vit C 1000 mg along with 25 mg Iron Bisglycinate (sometimes 18 mg BA iron instead depending on constipation issues)
Prior to getting my labs done, I was taking a sublingual B Complex drop under my tongue AND two Bariatric Advantage B Complex capsules) Yeah, overkill... Since getting the lab results I have not been taking either of the B Complex's but instead only the sublingual B12 above.
As for the B Complex that I was taking prior to getting labs done, the BA one had far more B6 in it (50 mg) than the sublingual drops I was taking which had 2 mg. So, if I go back to B Complex I will just use the sublingual drops and not the BA ones (or just take one BA capsule instead of 2)
You need a bone density scan and you need it now. Hopefully you can get it covered based on the fact that you have RNY and the fact that your PTH level strongly suggests you are sucking lots and lots of calcium out of your bones. If not, I think it usually costs a couple hundred dollars. Pay for it yourself if you have to.
Most likely the reason your PTH is so high has to do with the low vitamin D. If your D is below 80, you don't absorb calcium very well, no matter how much you take.
Your body will work very hard to keep the calcium level in your blood good. That's because if there is not enough calcium in your blood, your muscles don't contract properly. Your heart is a muscle and if it can't contract properly, as in beat, you die. So if you are not absorbing enough calcium for any reason, your parathyroid makes more parathyroid hormone, or PTH, which causes calcium to leach out of your bones and teeth so you have enough calcium in your blood.
Oh, yeah, teeth as well as bones. So you might wanna see the dentist soon, too.
Your B12 is beautiful. Your vitamin schedule is fine. You're already taking the D3 you need now, your D level should be fine in a month or two.
I'm just worried about your bones.

As for the dentist, I go every 6 months. In fact, I went today and that is why I'm on here and not at work! lol I have a mouth full of crowns (7 to be exact!) and two missing teeth... I hope to be getting implants for those within the next year. But, if my bones aren't strong enough, I won't be able to... I have genetically bad teeth :-(
Anyway, as of today I got a clean bill of health on my teeth :-)
Thanks again!
Dot
Glad to hear your teeth are OK!
