It's not fair!
Not every post op has the "no hunger" thing forever. They may have it for a few weeks or months, but seldom forever. Behavior modification is the key. The surgery is only a tool to help you on your way. Yes, there are some people who "forget to eat", but many times this is due to their increased energy, and they're doing things. Hunger issues vary with each post op. DAVE

I am still sorta new but I do get hungry, but it feels nothing like it did before surgery! Before if I wld go too long w/out eating I wld feel so sick and get a headache and become kinda mean
But now it doesn't do any of that to me. I jst have a kind of empty stomach sensation. So maybe that is why people say they feel no hunger, jst cuz it doesnt feel exactly the same.

I was the type of person pre-op who wouldn't eat all day. But, come dinner time I would binge. I have never felt hungry since surgery. But, I am only a few months out. But I can tell you that prior to TOM (post op) I want to eat anything that isn't nailed down.
Ugh, I don't want hunger to return but know it will eventually rear its ugly head.....

Yeah....I have felt hunger since probably week 2. Really sucks but I just tell myself it makes us stronger because we have had to deal with it from the get go.

I hate you Jen! LOL Just Kidding, but seriously I hate you!
Be very glad you got that gift, I wish I had gotten in. I will say that hunger is a bit different and it comes and goes, but that feeling of just not caring about food at all, yeah that never happened to me.
Maybe it is just old habits that are dying hard

Oh I know! Me too! I just really wanted to be a dumper and I'm not. BUT!! If I do eat more then 20 grams of sugar I find that I feel bad, it is sort of like dumping but I don't throw up or poop it out, I just get a head ache and tummy ache and sometimes it makes me want to sleep. I guess or at least hope that will be enough to keep me away from sweets.
I would have to agree the "TOM" plays a big role in being hungry atleast for me anyways. About 3-5 days prior I feel like all I do is eat, eat, eat and of course I don't lose wieght. Some times gain a couple pounds but about a week after the "TOM" is when I lose the most weight. And ya I have always felt hunger. There are days when I am really busy and don't notice it like I did pre-op but I never forget to eat. lol So you are not alone!
I had surgery in 2009 and I can tell you right now I'm starving! And I've been eating all day, it seems! LOL I'm also one of those unfortunate people who, volume doesn't affect. I don't get that "oh I can only eat 1/4 cup of food and I'm stuffed!" Uhh, not me. I can easily eat just like everybody else. That scares the daylights out of me. But for some reason, I'm still losing weight. I don't know, maybe my perception is off and I really AM eating less but I sure don't feel deprived! I think a lot of the way people feel about food after gastric bypass has to do with how they've psyched themselves into thinking they will feel or getting their hopes up too high. I thought that I would get so full after that first liquid meal in the hospital. I was starving and finished it ALL and wanted even more food... thinking, "did they even do anything to me in the OR"? LOL Although, now that I think about it... it's my TOM too. Hmm....... lol!
