It's not fair!

It's not fair that I did NOT get the "no hunger" thing from this surgery!  That is what I wanted the most!

Somedays, I have it.  Some day I don't.  On the days I don't it just sucks and I just start to hate those people who post "Oh, I never get hungry, I just forget to eat"  (when I say hate, I mean it in the sarcastic way...please don't take me for serious)

FORGET TO EAT!  Really!  What does that even feel like!  Please tell me there are others of you our there who have had surgery in the past 6 months who get hungry like me.  And Vets, please tell me that it doesn't get worse then this.  It might just be because I am near TOM, but I do feel hunger everyday, just more on some days then others.

I had a couple months of not being hungry, at least hardly ever being hungry, and it was kinda nice... but just about everyone gets hunger back at some point.  So we all gotta learn to deal with it.  Might as well start doing that now.

If you eat small amounts of protein frequently, do you feel full?  Or satisfied?

Yeah, Kelly, I do eat like 6 small meals of mostly protein and they do fill me up, I am just hungry like 2 hours later.  Like I said somedays like today it is bad other days it is fine.

But not a day goes by where I am not looking forward to lunch or dinner or snack.  These people who post stuff like "I forget to eat and have to set my meals to a timer" just make me go "ugh"!  LOL  I WISH i had to set a timer, but my body is the timer.

I think I will look at it this way.  Hunger does show there is a working metabolism, my body is burning off what I am putting in, so that is good.  Maybe those people who do not have the hunger feeling, ever, have a slower metabolism that those of us who do have hunger.

I think that's a very good point.  "Normal," healthy bodies get hungry.  We get scared or upset when we feel hunger because we're afraid we are going to have to feel hungry forever or that we're going to overeat when we feel hungry, but our bodies are designed to get hungry.  I think we need to learn that we can feel hungry a little while, we can eat a reasonable portion of food and feel satisfied, and then later we'll get hungry again.  We won't feel hungry all the time forever, and we don't have to eat as much junk food as possible when we feel hungry.

I'm right there with you. Forget to eat? Ha!  I've forgotten to pick up my kids from places, (which, they will never let me live down by the way) but forget to eat? Never!  I hate those people too.

I am almost 8 months out of surgery, and I felt hunger a few months after surgery.  I, too, get very frustrated when I hear other patients say they are "never hungry" and "forget to eat." I feel cheated that I did not get that feeling EVER!  There are days and times when I have a VORACIOUS appetite.  I just try to eat properly, and some days are "hungrier" days than others.  I have had several patients tell me they are still not feeling their natural hunger after a year or so out of surgery.  You and I are the unfortunate ones who will have to work harder to think about EVERYTHING that goes into our mouths!

I'm right there with you Lisa.  I've felt hunger since around three weeks.  It's just something that I deal with by eating six small meals a day.  It really helps control the hunger, and fortunately, it isn't the ravenous type of hunger.  I'm sure the hunger you feel now is because of TOM.  My wife needs to eat all day long for the 10 days before her TOM.  I never feel hungry because of my TOM.

OMG Jim you crack me up!

Yeah, I am exactly like your wife and I feel like eating the paint off the walls for 10 days out of every month, if you think about it that is 1/3 of the month!  Totally not fair!
